Backgrounds: Osteoarthritis (OA) significantly impacts the elderly, leading to disability and decreased quality of life. While hyaluronic acid (HA) and chondroitin sulfate (CS) are recognized for their therapeutic potential in OA, their effects on extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation are not well understood. This study investigates the impact of HA and CS, individually and combined, on ECM degradation in OA and the underlying mechanisms.

Microplastics (MPs) and Di-(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) as emerging contaminants, have caused increasing concern due to their co-exposure risks and toxicities to humans. Lactic acid bacteria have been demonstrated to play a significant role in the mitigation of organismal damage. Probiotic intervention is widely recognized as a safe and healthy therapeutic strategy for targeting the mitigation of organic damage.

Objective: To better understand critically ill children's lived experiences with family presence in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).
Study Design: This qualitative, interpretive phenomenological study is grounded in a Childhood Ethics ontology. We recruited children (aged 6-17 years) admitted to one of four participating Canadian PICUs between November 2021-July 2022 using maximum variation sampling.

Background: The oligomers and fibrils of tau are well known as an indicator of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Recently, other protein aggregates have been shown to be potentially involved in the development of the disease. One of these proteins is p53, involved in DNA repair.

Carbon microspheres (CMSs) are recognized as highly effective microwave absorbers due to their exceptional wave absorption properties. In this study, 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)porphyrin, a metamaterial, was chemically bonded to CMSs─considered a conjugated carbon structure─using a 1,3-dibromopropane linker to explore the synergistic properties and microwave absorption capabilities of the synthesized composite. The synthesized structures were characterized by using X-ray diffraction, FE-SEM, Fourier transform infrared, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, and VNA analyses.
