M/EEG resting-state analysis often requires the definition of the epoch length and the criteria in order to select which epochs to include in the subsequent steps. However, the effects of epoch selection remain scarcely investigated and the procedure used to (visually) inspect, label, and remove bad epochs is often not documented, thereby hindering the reproducibility of the reported results. In this study, we present Scorepochs, a simple and freely available tool for the automatic scoring of resting-state M/EEG epochs that aims to provide an objective method to aid M/EEG experts during the epoch selection procedure. We tested our approach on a freely available EEG dataset containing recordings from 109 subjects using the BCI2000 64 channel system.

Magnetoencephalography and electroencephalography (M/EEG) seed-based connectivity analysis requires the extraction of measures from regions of interest (ROI). M/EEG ROI-derived source activity can be treated in different ways. It is possible, for instance, to average each ROI's time series prior to calculating connectivity measures.

Magnetoencephalography/electroencephalography (M/EEG) can provide insights into migraine pathophysiology and help develop clinically valuable biomarkers. To integrate and summarize the existing evidence on changes in brain function in migraine, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis (PROSPERO CRD42021272622) of resting-state M/EEG findings in migraine. We included 27 studies after searching MEDLINE, Web of Science Core Collection, and EMBASE.

Generalized epilepsy (GE) encompasses a heterogeneous group of hyperexcitability disorders that clinically manifest as seizures. At the whole-brain level, distinct seizure patterns as well as interictal epileptic discharges (IEDs) reflect key signatures of hyperexcitability in magneto- and electroencephalographic (M/EEG) recordings. Moreover, it had been suggested that aperiodic activity, specifically the slope of the 1/ decay function of the power spectrum, might index neural excitability.

Task-free brain activity affords unique insight into the functional structure of brain network dynamics and is a strong marker of individual differences. In this work, we present an algorithmic optimization framework that makes it possible to directly invert and parameterize brain-wide dynamical-systems models involving hundreds of interacting brain areas, from single-subject time-series recordings. This technique provides a powerful neurocomputational tool for interrogating mechanisms underlying individual brain dynamics ("precision brain models") and making quantitative predictions.
