is an important mosquito-borne nematode, being of both veterinary and public health concern. The typical final host is represented by the domestic dog, , but it is able to infect a large variety of mammalian species. During the present study (March 2016-February 2022), a total of 459 wild carnivore carcasses belonging to 17 species, from Romania, were evaluated for the presence of adult by necropsy. Overall, 20 animals (4.36%) were positive: twelve golden jackals, (19.05%); four red foxes, (6.67%); one raccoon dog, ; two wild cats, (4.65%); and one European badger, (0.87%). This study provides further evidence of the occurrence of the canine heartworm, , in Romania, expanding the known host spectrum, reports a new host species for this parasite, the European badger, and a new host for Europe, the raccoon dog.

Wild carnivorans are key hosts of parvoviruses of relevance for animal health and wildlife conservation. However, the distribution and diversity of parvoviruses among wild carnivorans are under-investigated, particularly in Southern Europe. We evaluated the presence, spread, and diversity of multi-host protoparvoviruses (canine parvovirus type 2 (CPV-2), feline panleukopenia virus (FPV)), and amdoparvoviruses in 12 carnivoran species from Northern Spain to explore viral ecology.

Perception can be highly dependent on stimulus context, but whether and how sensory areas encode the context remains uncertain. We used an ambiguous auditory stimulus - a tritone pair - to investigate the neural activity associated with a preceding contextual stimulus that strongly influenced the tritone pair's perception: either as an ascending or a descending step in pitch. We recorded single-unit responses from a population of auditory cortical cells in awake ferrets listening to the tritone pairs preceded by the contextual stimulus.

However, information on these mammals' activity patterns and co-occurrence, specifically in Türkiye, is limited. Our study aimed to reveal the daily activity patterns and temporal overlaps of mammalian species detected using camera traps in Sülüklü Lake Nature Park.

Background: During our years of working with ferrets in our laboratory animal facility, we observed that in several healthy young female ferrets, signs of anaemia could be detected during the entry examination although none of the ferrets expressed any clinical symptoms at the time of blood withdrawal. We aimed to compare the influence of inhalation anaesthesia with isoflurane and sevoflurane to restrained, awake ferrets on several blood parameters. After arrival at our facility all ferrets received a hormone chip to subdue oestrus.
