(1) Current breast-conserving therapy for breast cancer consists of a combination of many consecutive treatment modalities. The most crucial goal of postoperative treatment is to eradicate potentially relapse-forming residual cancerous cells within the tumor bed. To achieve this, the HDR brachytherapy boost standardly added to external beam radiotherapy was enhanced with an initial thermal boost. This study presents an original thermal boost technique developed in the clinic. (2) A detailed point-by-point description of thermal boost application is presented. Data on proper patient selection, microwave thermal boost planning, and interstitial hyperthermia treatment delivery are supported by relevant figures and schemes. (3) Out of 1134 breast cancer patients who were administered HDR brachytherapy boost in the tumor bed, 262 were also pre-heated interstitially without unexpected complications. The results are supported by two example cases of hyperthermia planning and delivery. (4) Additional breast cancer interstitial thermal boost preceding HDR brachytherapy boost as a part of combined treatment in a unique postoperative setting was feasible, well-tolerated, completed in a reasonable amount of time, and reproducible. A commercially available interstitial hyperthermia system fit and worked well with standard interstitial brachytherapy equipment.

Nowadays, the limited electronic conductivity and structural deterioration during battery cycling have hindered the widespread application of NaV(PO) (NVP). In response to these challenges, we advocate for a technique involving the application of carbon modifications to NVP to enhance its suitability as cathode material. This work involves the synthesis of N/Cl co-modified in situ carbon coatings derived from clozapine (CZP) through a facile hydrothermal route.

Introduction: The non-thermal plasma (NTP) technique has been suggested as a sustainable horticultural practice to promote biomass accumulation, nutrient uptake, N metabolism, and disease prevention in plants. In particular, the potentiality of this technique to promote the natural accumulation of nutrients into plants deserve to be explored as input saving is strongly recommended in the horticultural sector.

Methods: The nutrient solution supplied to a red coloured variety of rocket salad [ (L.

Background: "Active" heat acclimation (exercise-in-the-heat) can improve exercise performance but the efficacy of "passive" heat acclimation using post-exercise heat exposure is unclear. Therefore, we synthesised a systematic review and meta-analysis to answer whether post-exercise heat exposure improves exercise performance.

Methods: Five databases were searched to identify studies including: (i) healthy adults; (ii) an exercise training intervention with post-exercise heat exposure via sauna or hot water immersion (treatment group); (iii) a non-heat exposure control group completing the same training; and (iv) outcomes measuring exercise performance in the heat (primary outcome), or performance in thermoneutral conditions, V̇Omax, lactate threshold, economy, heart rate, RPE, core temperature, sweat rate, and thermal sensations.

Study on a Strategy to Improve the Image Quality and Imaging Depth for Novel Synthetic Aperture Schemes: An Experimental Investigation.

Ultrason Imaging

January 2025

Biomedical Ultrasound Imaging Laboratory, Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, Chennai, India.

Imaging depth remains a restriction for Synthetic Aperture (SA) approaches, even though SA techniques have been shown to overcome some of the drawbacks of Conventional Focused Beamforming (CFB) technique. This limitation is attributed to lesser energy per transmit in SA techniques compared to that of CFB technique. Therefore, in this paper, a systematic investigation is done to evaluate the improvement in imaging depth and image quality of B-mode ultrasound images in the case of SA technique using PZT transducer by boosting the input voltage to the transducer, while measuring the acoustic exposure parameters recommended in international standards.

In this study, an alginate-chitosan (AL-CS) nanocomplex decorated with vitamin C coated iron oxide nanoparticles (FeO-vit C NPs) was investigated as a novel nanoiron fortification agent. The FeO-vit C NPs decorated on AL-CS nanocomplex underwent comprehensive characterization, including zeta potential, fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and UV-vis spectroscopy. The transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis confirmed the decoration of FeO-vit C NPs on AL-CS nanocomplex.
