Infection with SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) during pregnancy has been associated with several complications. Increasing evidence suggests that COVID-19 infection leaves tell-tale signs of placental injury. During ultrasound examination and placental evaluation of COVID-19 infected pregnancies, we recorded signs of placental involvement, with findings indicating malperfusion, chorangiosis, deciduitis, and subchorionitis. Early detection of placental damage through the use of specific ultrasound findings could indicate which pregnancies are at increased risk for complications.

Placenta tissue has biological advantages, including anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fibrotic formation, and immunomodulatory properties. The amnion membrane (AM) is an inner side membrane of the placenta that faces the fetus. The main sources of amnion are humans and animals, with bovine being one of the significant sources.

Literature evidenced an association of maternal sleep disturbances and maternal obstructive sleep apnea with significant obstetric complications. Moreover, the maternal sleep disturbances effect on feto-placental circulation had not been extensively examined. Our objective is to explore the possible maternal sleep disturbances impact on the feto-placental indices evaluated through the Doppler study.

Background: Preeclampsia significantly impacts maternal and perinatal health. Early screening using advanced models and primary prevention with low-dose acetylsalicylic acid for high-risk populations is crucial to reduce the disease's incidence. This study assesses the feasibility of implementing preterm preeclampsia screening and prevention by leveraging information from our current aneuploidy screening program in a real-world setting with geographic separation clinical site and laboratory analysis site.

Background: Mycotoxin, a secondary metabolite of fungus, found worldwide and concerning in crops and food, causing multiple acute and chronic toxicities. Its toxic profile includes hepatotoxicity, carcinogenicity, teratogenicity, estrogenicity, immunotoxicity, and neurotoxicity, leading to deleterious impact on human and animal health. Emerging evidence suggests that it adversely affects perinatal health, progeny by its ability to cross placental barriers.
