Unlabelled: Diabetes mellitus refers to a group of common metabolic disorders that share the phenotype of hyperglycemia. The worldwide prevalence of DM has risen dramatically over the past two decades.Diabetes mellitus is a major cause of mortality and morbidity worldwide. Assay for C-peptide can be used to provide an index of endogenous insulin production and pancreatic beta cell function.
Material: This is a hospital based cross section study involving 50 newly detected diabetic subjects of age group 35-40 years. The subjects were evaluated with their fasting and stimulated c-peptide levels assay, fasting and postprandial blood sugars, HbA1c.
Observation: Eight subjects out of 50 subjects had a fasting serum C-peptide value less than normal value. Thirteen subjects out of 50 subjects had a low stimulated serum C-peptide.
Conclusion: This study suggests measurement of C-peptide levels in newly detected diabetic subjects especially of younger age group is of value in differentiating type of diabetes and appropriate next line of management.

Photonic crystal-based aptasensors for viral proteins detection offer the advantage of producing visible readouts. However, they usually suffer from limited sensitivity and high non-specific background noise. A significant contributing factor to these issues is the use of fixed-conformation aptamers in these sensors.

Aim: Ovarian cancer (OC) is a fatal female malignant tumor that severely impacts the health of women worldwide. Due to the lack of diagnostic biomarkers, 70% of OC patients are considered in the advanced stage at the first diagnosis. Exploring novel biomarkers for OC diagnosis has become an urgent clinical need to address.

Herein, a novel spectrofluorometric sensor is proposed for the sensitive analysis of two nonfluorescent mucolytic drugs, namely, acetylcysteine (ACT) and carbocisteine (CST), utilizing the newly synthesized 2-[(2-hydroxyethyl)-(2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[2',3':3,4]pyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidin-4-yl)-amino]-ethanol as a fluorescence probe (Flu. Probe). This fluorophore exhibits fluorescence emission at 445 nm upon excitation at 275 nm.
