We report a case of catheter-related bloodstream infection by , identified using 16S rRNA gene sequencing, in a patient with arterial hypertension for 20 years and chronic kidney disease in hemodialysis since 08/07/2019. To our knowledge, this is the first case of in Ecuador.

Polymicrobial biofilm infections, especially associated with medical devices such as peripheral venous catheters, are challenging in clinical settings for treatment and management. In this study, we examined the mixed biofilm formed by Candida glabrata and Klebsiella pneumoniae, which were co-isolated from the same peripheral venous catheter. Our results revealed that C.

Background: Atrial functional mitral regurgitation (AFMR) and heart failure with a preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) often coexist. However, the clinical impact of HFpEF in patients with AFMR has not been well characterized. This study aimed to determine clinical outcomes and response to mitral valve (MV) intervention or rhythm control therapy in patients with HFpEF and moderate AFMR (HFpEF-AFMR).

High flow nasal cannula (HFNC) can reduce the need for intubation in patients with coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) pneumonia induced acute hypoxemic respiratory failure (AHRF), but predictors of HFNC success could be characterized better. C-reactive protein (CRP) and D-dimer are associated with COVID-19 severity and progression. However, no one has evaluated the use of serial CRP and D-dimer ratios to predict HFNC success.

Background: In clinical practice, the emergence of ST11-K64 carbapenem-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae (ST11-K64 CRKP) has become increasingly alarming. Despite this trend, limited research has been conducted to elucidate the clinical and molecular characteristics of these strains.
Objectives: This study aimed to comprehensively investigate the clinical characteristics, antimicrobial resistance patterns, resistance and virulence-associated genes, and molecular epidemiology of ST11-K64 CRKP in Southwest China.
