Hydrogen migration in triply charged acetylene.

Published: April 2022

We report on the direct experimental evidence of hydrogen migration in triply charged acetylene. The roaming hydrogen atom in a triply charged molecular ion is counter intuitive. The three body breakup channel CH →H+C+CH is studied using the technique of recoil ion momentum spectroscopy. The triply charged ion was generated in collisions of the neutral parent with a slow highly charged Xe ion. Three different dissociation pathways have been identified and separated, namely, concerted breakup in an acetylene configuration, concerted breakup in a vinylidene configuration, and sequential breakup via a [CH] intermediate, and the branching ratio for all three pathways are determined.

Three new hexagonal perovskites with CsMMRhCl (M = Na, Ag; M = Mn, Fe) stoichiometry have been synthesized from solution precipitation reactions. These air-stable compounds crystallize as triply cation-ordered variants of the 6H perovskite structure. This structure contains octahedra that share a common face to form MRhCl dimers that are arranged on a two-dimensional triangular network.

The chemical reduction of a pyracylene-hexa--hexabenzocoronene-(HBC)-fused nanographene TPP was investigated with K and Rb metals to reveal its multi-electron acceptor abilities. The reaction of TPP with the above alkali metals, monitored by UV-vis-NIR and H NMR spectroscopy, evidenced the stepwise reduction process. The use of different solvents and secondary ligands enabled isolation of single crystals of three different reduced states of TPP with 1, 2, and 3 electrons added to its π-system.

Endohedral boron-doped scandium clusters BSc ( = 2-3, = 3-13): triangular - linear rearrangement of the B dopant.

Dalton Trans

January 2025

Laboratory for Chemical Computation and Modeling, Institute for Computational Science and Artificial Intelligence, Van Lang University, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

A theoretical investigation, employing density functional theory with the PBE functional and the Def2-TZVP basis set, comprehensively explores the geometric and electronic structures and properties of the boron doped scandium clusters BSc with = 2-3 and = 3-13. Introduction of B atoms significantly enhances the stability of the resulting clusters with respect to the initial counterparts. As the number of B atoms increases, the stability of the doped clusters improves, following the order: BSc > BSc > BSc > Sc.

Simultaneously dispersing phosphide crystallites and multiple heteroatoms in hollow carbon is a significant yet challenging task for achieving high-performance oxygen electrocatalysts of zinc-air batteries. Herein, a simple wrapping-pyrolysis strategy is proposed to prepare CoP/CoP embedded in N, P, S triply-doped hollow carbon (CoP/CoP@NPS-HC). CoP/CoP@NPS-HC composite features hollow polyhedral structure populated with numerous catalytically active CoP/CoP nanoparticles and N, P, S heteroatoms.
