The first measurement of lepton-jet momentum imbalance and azimuthal correlation in lepton-proton scattering at high momentum transfer is presented. These data, taken with the H1 detector at HERA, are corrected for detector effects using an unbinned machine learning algorithm (multifold), which considers eight observables simultaneously in this first application. The unfolded cross sections are compared with calculations performed within the context of collinear or transverse-momentum-dependent factorization in quantum chromodynamics as well as Monte Carlo event generators.

Harmonics of Parton Saturation in Lepton-Jet Correlations at the Electron-Ion Collider.

Phys Rev Lett

Parton saturation is one of the most intriguing phenomena in the high energy nuclear physics research frontier, especially in the upcoming era of the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). The lepton-jet correlation in deep inelastic scattering provides us with a new gateway to the parton saturation at the EIC. In particular, we demonstrate that azimuthal angle anisotropies of the lepton-jet correlation are sensitive to the strength of the saturation momentum in the EIC kinematic region.

Measuring a long-range dark matter force at the Large Hadron Collider.

Phys Rev Lett

July 2009

Theoretical Physics Department, Fermilab, Batavia, Illinois 60510, USA.

A long-range "dark force" has recently been proposed to mediate the dark matter (DM) annihilation. If DM particles are copiously produced at the Large Hadron Collider, the light dark force mediator will also be produced through radiation. We demonstrate how and how precise we can utilize this fact to measure the coupling constant of the dark force.
