A review article has been published recently (, 2021, , 22159-22198) describing flavonoids as inhibitors of tyrosinase. However, many compounds included in this review have been previously shown to act as substrates of this enzymes or antioxidants reducing tyrosinase-generated -quinones. Products of their oxidation absorb light in a range different than dopachrome, the oxidation product of l-tyrosine or l-dopa, whose concentration is measured spectrophotometrically in the standard enzymatic assay to monitor the activity of this enzyme. This effect is interpreted as enzyme inhibition, which, in fact, is only apparent and results from inadequate methodology.

Purpose: Self-testing has been proven to significantly improve not only simple learning outcomes, but also higher-order skills such as clinical reasoning in medical students. Previous studies have shown that self-testing was especially beneficial when it was presented with feedback, which leaves the question whether an immediate and personalized feedback further encourages this effect. Therefore, we hypothesised that individual feedback has a greater effect on learning outcomes, compared to generic feedback.

We pay special attention to the immune tolerance mechanism caused by hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection, the pathogenesis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), and the role of antiviral therapy in treating HCC related to HBV infection. HBV infection leads to systemic innate immune tolerance by directly inhibiting pattern recognition receptor recognition and antiviral signaling pathways, as well as by inhibiting the immune functions of macrophages, natural killer cells and dendritic cells.
