A curcumin derivative conjugated with Gd-DO3A (Gd-DO3A-Comp.B) was synthesised as an MRI contrast agent for detecting the amyloid-β (Aβ) fibrillation process. Gd-DO3A-Comp.B inhibited Aβ aggregation significantly and detected the fibril growth at 20 μM of Aβ with 10 μM of probe concentration by -weighted MR imaging.

Normative measurements of the frontal nerve by magnetic resonance imaging in an Australia cohort.

Surg Radiol Anat

January 2025

Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences, University of Adelaide, North Terrace, Adelaide, SA, 5000, Australia.

Purpose: To report the normative dimensions of the frontal nerve (FN) on fat-suppressed suppressed gadolinium (fs-gad) enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).

Method: A retrospective cohort study of patients who underwent coronal fs-gad T1-weighted MRI. Orbits were excluded if there was unilateral or bilateral pathology of the FN or optic nerve sheath (ONS), incomplete MRI sequences, poor image quality or indiscernible FN on radiological assessment.

In cardiovascular research, electromagnetic fields generated by Riga plates are utilized to study or manipulate blood flow dynamics, which is particularly crucial in developing treatments for conditions such as arterial plaque deposition and understanding blood behavior under varied flow conditions. This research predicts the flow patterns of blood enhanced with gold and maghemite nanoparticles (gold-maghemite/blood) in an electromagnetic microchannel influenced by Riga plates with a temperature gradient that decays exponentially, under sudden changes in pressure gradient. The flow modeling includes key physical influences like radiation heat emission and Darcy drag forces in porous media, with the flow mathematically represented through unsteady partial differential equations solved using the Laplace transform (LT) method.

Aim: To describe the long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes of asphyxiated neonates treated with hypothermia in association with neonatal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings.

Methods: We evaluated, retrospectively, clinical and radiological single-centre data at 0, 2, and 5 years of age of 53 asphyxiated neonates born between 2005 and 2015. Neonatal cranial MRI was re-evaluated using the Weeke score ranging from 0 (normal finding) to 55 (cerebral devastation) by a single neuroradiologist blinded to patient outcomes.

Background: Adopting appropriate noninvasive radiological method is crucial for periodic surveillance of liver metastases in colorectal cancer (CRC) patients after surgery, which is closely related to clinical management and prognosis. This study aimed to prospectively enroll stage II-III CRC patients for the surveillance of liver metastases, and compare the diagnostic performance of contrast-enhanced CT (CE-CT) and non-enhanced abbreviated MRI (NE-AMRI) during this process.

Methods: 587 CRC patients undergoing radical resection of the primary tumor were evaluated by 1 to 3 rounds of surveillance tests, consisting of abdominal CE-CT and contrast-enhanced MRI (CE-MRI) within 7 days at 6-month intervals.

Background: This study aimed to develop an automated algorithm to noninvasively distinguish gliomas from other intracranial pathologies, preventing misdiagnosis and ensuring accurate analysis before further glioma assessment.

Methods: A cohort of 1280 patients with a variety of intracranial pathologies was included. It comprised 218 gliomas (mean age 54.
