A molecular clip combining a doubly substituted fluorescent anion-π donor probe and two flexible arms bearing H-bond motifs constitutes a new generation of anion receptors. Five simultaneous non-covalent interactions are highlighted by theoretical complexation studies with five different anions. A large range of analytical techniques (electrospray-tandem mass spectrometry, NMR, UV-visible, steady-state and time-resolved fluorescence) were deployed to evaluate the stoichiometry and association constants with the selected anions. The photophysical and anion-π donor properties of the tetrazine ring allowed fine characterization of the binding properties of the ligand. Based on previously published results, an anti-cooperativity effect in non-covalent interactions was demonstrated.

Background: US blood donors are tested for syphilis because the bacterial agent is transfusion transmissible. Here we describe trends over an 11-year period of donations positive for recent and past syphilis infections, and donations classified as syphilis false positive (FP).
Methods: Data from January 1, 2013, to December 31, 2023 (11 years) were compiled for all American Red Cross blood donations to evaluate demographics/characteristics and longitudinal trends in donors testing syphilis reactive/positive.

This study shows the efficiency of WH-C450, an adsorbent obtained from water hyacinth (WH) biomass, in the removal of sulfamethoxazole (SMX) from aqueous solutions. We aimed to assess the impact of splicing variants reported in our laboratory to gain insight into their clinical relevance. A total of 108 consecutive individuals, for whom 113 splicing variants had been reported, were selected for RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq), considering the gene expression in blood. A protocol was developed to perform RNA extraction and sequencing using the same sample (dried blood spots, DBS) provided for the DNA analysis, including library preparation and bioinformatic pipeline analysis.
