Three new furanoxanthones, macochinxanthones A-C (-) and sixteen known xanthones (-) were isolated from the roots of Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis including NMR, UV and IR, as well as mass spectrometry. Chiral-phase HPLC analysis of - revealed that they were scalemic mixtures with an enantiomeric excess (ee) of 0.05%, 36.8% and 8%, respectively. Most of the isolated xanthones exhibited potent cytotoxicity against four cancer cell lines (KB, HelaS3, A549 and HepG2) with IC values in the range of 1.29-90.15 M. In addition, many of them displayed antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and Methicillin resistant (MRSA) with MIC values in the range of 4-128 g/mL.

This study investigates the electronic properties and photovoltaic (PV) performance of newly designed bithiophene-based dyes, focusing on their light harvesting efficiency (LHE), open-circuit voltage (V), fill factor (FF), and short-circuit current density (J).These new dyes are designed with the help of machine learning (ML) to design best donor acceptor designs. For this, we collect 2567 differenr electron donor groups and calculated their bandgap with the help of Random Forest (RF) Regression method.

This research utilizes density functional theory to investigate the ground and excited-state properties of a new series of organic dyes with D-π-A configurations (D1-D6) for their potential application in dye-sensitized solar cells. The study focuses on modifying these dyes using various functional groups as π-bridges to optimize their electronic properties and improve their efficiency as sensitizers in DSSCs. The frontier molecular orbitals (HOMO and LUMO) were analysed to evaluate electron transfer properties.

Improving Understanding of Fexofenadine Pharmacokinetics to Assess Pgp Phenotypic Activity in Older Adult Patients Using Population Pharmacokinetic Modeling.

Clin Pharmacokinet

January 2025

Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Service, Anesthesiology, Pharmacology and Intensive Care Department, Geneva University Hospitals, 4 Rue Gabrielle Perret-Gentil, 1205, Geneva, Switzerland.

Background And Objective: Fexofenadine is commonly used as a probe substrate to assess P-glycoprotein (Pgp) activity. While its use in healthy volunteers is well documented, data in older adult and polymorbid patients are lacking. Age- and disease-related physiological changes are expected to affect the pharmacokinetics of fexofenadine.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify prognostic factors influencing overall survival (OS) in patients with gastric cancer treated with adjuvant chemoradiotherapy (CRT) and to develop a predictive model.

Methods: We retrospectively evaluated 245 non-metastatic gastric cancer patients who received adjuvant CRT or radiotherapy from 2010 to 2020. Survival analyses were performed using the Kaplan-Meier method.

Electronic address:

Objective: To test whether an artificial intelligence (AI) deep neural network (DNN)-derived analysis of the 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) can distinguish patients with long QT syndrome (LQTS) from those with acquired QT prolongation.

Methods: The study cohort included all patients with genetically confirmed LQTS evaluated in the Windland Smith Rice Genetic Heart Rhythm Clinic and controls from Mayo Clinic's ECG data vault comprising more than 2.5 million patients.
