A three-dimensional supermolecule structure is easily formed due to the diverse coordination modes of high-oxidation-state lanthanide metal ions. However, the design and construction of zero-dimensional (0 D) dish-shaped high-nuclearity lanthanide clusters are difficult. Herein, for the first time, we synthesized a series of the largest dish-shaped high-nuclearity lanthanide nanoclusters (-) by tandem reactions under solvothermal one-pot conditions. The formation of and involved an reaction of aldehydes and amines, while the condensation reactions between aldehydes occurred in and . Based on the structural characteristics of the dish-shaped lanthanide clusters, we proposed two possible assembly mechanisms involving Dy → Dy → Dy → Dy (planar epitaxial growth mechanism) and Dy → Dy → Dy → Dy (planar internal growth mechanism).

The absence or dysplasia of the iliac artery(IA) is an exceedingly rare condition, with limited cases documented in the literature. In this report, we present a case of hypoplasia of the right external iliac artery (EIA) in a 69-year-old male patient. The patient presented with right lower abdominal pain attributed to an aneurysm of the right internal iliac artery (IIA), yet notably, there was no evidence of lower limb ischemia at the time of consultation.

Grass carp is an important commercial fish in China that is plagued by various diseases, especially the hemorrhagic disease induced by grass carp reovirus (GCRV). Autophagy, a highly conserved biological process among eukaryotes, is pivotal in maintaining cellular homeostasis and managing various stressors, including viral infections. Uncoordinated (Unc) 51-like kinase 2 (ULK2) is considered an initiator of the autophagic process.

Research Question: Are the combined genotypes and haplotypes of vitamin D receptor (VDR) gene polymorphisms (FokI, ApaI and TaqI) associated with susceptibility to polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) and metabolic features of the disease?

Design: This case-control study included 46 women with PCOS and 48 controls. Genotypes of the VDR gene were determined using the polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. Waist circumference, and parameters of lipid and glucose metabolism were evaluated in all women.

Prediction of the need for surgery in patients with unruptured abdominal aortic aneurysm based on SOFA score.

PLoS One

January 2025

General Surgery, Cancer Center, Department of Vascular Surgery, Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Affiliated People's Hospital, Hangzhou Medical College, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China.

Objective: This retrospective study aimed to explore the association and clinical value of sequential organ failure assessment (SOFA) score on the predictors of adverse events in patients with unruptured abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA).

Methods: A total of 322 patients from Medical Information Mart for Intensive Care IV database were enrolled. Logistic regression was conducted to explore the association between SOFA and primary outcome (need for surgery, NFS).
