The rising consumption of milk and its derivatives in recent years has garnered attention from both consumers and producers, mainly due its possible health benefits, such as enhanced digestion and easier absorption. Thus, a novel real-time PCR using a combination of locked nucleic acid modified (LNA) conjugated probes was developed to genotype and alleles of -casein gene () and to detect and quantify the presence in samples. The limit of detection for each probe ( and ) was evaluated using decreasing serial dilutions. Besides, the sensitivity of A1 allele detection in the samples was also tested. The limits of detection of and alleles were 6 copies, while for allele detection in samples was 7.5 copies (1%). The LNA-probe based method was found to be rapid, robust, highly sensitive, cost effective, and can be employed as screening test to certificate the dairy products.

Background: Microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) is a severe multisystem autoimmune disease featured by small-vessel vasculitis with few or no immune complex, also has a significant genetic predisposition. Growing evidence has confirmed that STAT4 gene is tightly associated with multiple autoimmune diseases, but its contribution to MPA onset is still elusive.
Objective: The aim was to investigated the association between STAT4 gene polymorphisms (rs7572482, rs7574865 and rs12991409) and MPA susceptibility in a Guangxi population of China.

One in 16, 000 live births is affected by the retinal tumor RB (retinoblastoma), which is frequently found in a child's early years. Both of the RB1 alleles that have been locally mutated in the affected retina are present in 60 percent of cases. Retinoblastoma (RB) can be detected using a variety of techniques, including imaging of the brain and orbits, eye examinations under anesthesia (EUAs), and the discovery of cell-free tumor DNA in samples of aqueous humor or plasma.

Small ruminant lentiviruses (SRLVs) infect sheep, causing a multiorganic disease called maedi-visna or ovine progressive pneumonia, which significantly affects the production and welfare of sheep, generating serious economic losses. Although not all infected animals develop fully symptomatic disease, they constantly spread the virus in the flock. Since the infection is incurable and no vaccine is available, another approach is necessary to control SRLV infections.

Allergic diseases commonly coexist, manifesting in a sequence described as the "allergic march". This study aimed to evaluate TSLP's and IL-1β's potential as biomarkers in both single and multi-pediatric atopic diseases like atopic eczema, food allergy, and anaphylaxis and analyze specific SNPs in the TSLP and IL-1β genes to determine their associations with their occurrence and severity. This analysis included 109 atopic children diagnosed with atopic dermatitis, food allergy, or anaphylaxis alongside a control group of 57 non-atopic children.

Tick-bite hypersensitivity encompasses a range of clinical manifestations, from localized allergic reactions to systemic conditions like alpha-gal syndrome (AGS), an IgE-mediated allergy to galactose-α-1,3-galactose (α-Gal). This study investigated the clinical, molecular, immunological, and genetic features of two hypersensitivity cases. Two cases were analyzed: a 30-year-old woman with fixed drug reaction (FDR)-like hypersensitivity and a 10-year-old girl with AGS exhibiting borderline α-Gal-specific IgE.
