The immune system employs complex tolerance mechanisms in order to avoid harmful autoimmunity, yet autoantibodies are frequently observed in cancer. In a paper in Cell, Mazor et al. report that autoantibodies produced by tumor-infiltrating B cells in human ovarian cancer frequently recognize the self-protein matrix metalloproteinase 14 (MMP14) through two distinct mechanisms of tolerance disruption.

Human health is being threatened by environmental microplastic (MP) pollution. MPs were detected in the bloodstream and multiple tissues of humans, disrupting the regular physiological processes of organs. Nanoscale plastics can breach the blood-brain barrier, leading to neurotoxic effects.

Microinvasive oral squamous cell carcinoma (MISCC) is the early stage of oral cancer that shows a breach in the basement membrane, and the depth of invasion of the tumour is limited to 0.5-2mm into the papillary stroma. A review of the available data on MISCC was conducted to formulate a management protocol for MISCC and to assess the association of MISCC with oral potentially malignant disorders.

Tree bark is a crucial tissue that defends tree stems from invasions by microorganisms. However, our understanding of the constitutive chemical defense mechanisms of the tree barks remains limited. Our group recently discovered that the inner bark of Sorbus commixta exhibited potent inhibitory effects on the growth of the white-rot fungus, Trametes versicolor.

Introduction: Giant cell tumor of bone (GCTB) ranks among the most prevalent locally aggressive tumor lesions, displaying a diverse range of biological behaviors. Recurrence of GCTB is well-documented, often attributed to microscopic tumour remnants remaining after intralesional curettage, with increased concern when infection occurs postoperatively. Studies suggest the limited effectiveness of adjuvants in preventing giant cell tumour recurrence, emphasizing the necessity of complete removal of malignant cells.
