Many species in the fungal (anamorph ) genus have become a group of the most important pathogens that cause seed decay, stem and pot blight, and stem canker in soybean production worldwide, resulting in significant yield loss. Due to increased disease prevalence but a lack of research, we performed an extensive field survey to isolate and identify the species associated with soybean stem blight in six provinces of China between 2019 and 2020. A total of 92 isolates were identified based on morphological and multilocus phylogenetic analysis and classified into six species: , , , , , and an unknown sp. The most frequently identified species was with 57 isolates. High genetic diversity was observed for the isolates, and haplotype network analysis revealed a mixed structure among the population in the six provinces. In comparative pathogenicity assays, different virulence levels were observed among the 92 isolates. The results of this study provide new insights into the spp. associated with soybean stem blight in China and can help in the development of effective management strategies.

Background: Phytophthora sojae (Kaufmann and Gerdemann), a pathogenic oomycete, causes one of the most destructive soybean diseases, Phytophthora root and stem rot (PRR). Previous studies have shown that benzoxazines (BXs) such as 6-methoxy-benzoxazolin-2-one (MBOA) and benzoxazoline-2-one (BOA) in maize root exudates inhibit the chemotaxis of zoospores, as well as the mycelial growth and pathogenicity of P. sojae.

The differential components in the three products were screened by chemometrics, on the basis of which the relative odor activity value(ROAV) was adopted to elucidate the odor differences among different products and the material basis of their odors. The results showed that the electronic nose effectively distinguished the products of Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma processed with different methods.

Under low blue light (LBL) conditions, soybean exhibits classic shade avoidance syndrome (SAS) with exaggerated stem elongation (ESE), leading to lodging and yield reduction in dense farming. Recently, mRNA modification by N6-methyladenosine (m6A) has emerged as a crucial epigenetic mechanism regulating plant biological processes; however, its impact on shade avoidance remains unexplored. In this study, the double mutants, gmmtas, that are impaired in two mA writer genes, GmMTAa and GmMTAb that encode mA methyltransferases or mA writers are generated.
