Objective: This research was carried out in a single group, pretest-post-test design in order to determine the effect of education on care burden and life quality of caregivers provided to caregivers of patients diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who received healthcare at their home.

Material And Methods: The population of the study was composed of 35 patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease living in the city center and receiving home health care and the caregivers of these patients. Research data were obtained by using the Caregiver Information Form, Patient Information Form, Caregiver Burden Inventory, and World Health Organization Quality of Scale-Bref Quality of Life Scale. Caregivers' burden and quality of life were reevaluated once after every 1 month and 3 months following the education.

Results: It was determined that caregivers were the spouses and children of the patients, the majority of them did not consider themselves sufficient in providing care; their care burden was high and their quality of life was low. In post-education follow-ups, a significant reduction in caregiver burden and a significant increase in quality of life were detected.

Conclusion: The education prepared considering the learning needs was seen to be effective in reducing the care burden of caregivers of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and in improving their quality of life.

Limited research has examined the effect of meal composition on sleep. Based on previous research, we hypothesized that a low glycemic index (LGI) drink containing 50 g isomaltulose (Palatinose, GI = 32) would result in more N3 sleep, less rapid eye movement (REM) sleep, and better memory consolidation than a high glycemic index (HGI) drink containing 50 g glucose (GI = 100). Healthy males (n = 20) attended the laboratory on three occasions at least a week apart (one acclimatization night and two test nights).

Rationale: Bilateral gluteus medius contractures in adults are rare in clinical practice, with only a few cases reported. These contractures may result from repeated intramuscular injections during childhood. Understanding the clinical manifestations, diagnostic process, treatment, and outcomes can provide insights into effective management strategies.

Although the pathogenesis of OA is not fully understood, the roles of inflammation, metabolic dysregulation, and biomechanical stress are increasingly recognized. Current treatments, including pharmacotherapy, physical therapy, and surgical interventions, aim to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life, yet they face limitations and challenges.

Factors associated with higher caregiver burden among informal caregivers of Parkinson's disease: A systematic review.

Medicine (Baltimore)

January 2025

Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, the Affiliated Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital, Southwest Medical University, Luzhou, China.

Background: Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease and the care burden in informal caregivers is huge. Summarizing factors associated with the informal caregivers burden can improve our understanding of providing proactive support to informal caregivers caring for patients with Parkinson's disease (PwP) at risk, and provides evidence for clinical practice.

Methods: PRISMA guidelines were followed in this systematic review.

Preharvest sprouting (PHS) is an unfavorable trait in cereal crops that significantly reduces grain yield and quality. However, the regulatory mechanisms underlying this complex trait are still largely unknown. Here, 276 rice accessions from the 3000 Rice Genomes Project were used to perform a genome-wide association study.
