Due to the widespread use of positron emission tomography (PET) in clinical practice, the potential risk of PET-associated radiation dose to patients needs to be minimized. However, with the reduction in the radiation dose, the resultant images may suffer from noise and artifacts that compromise diagnostic performance. In this paper, we propose a parameter-transferred Wasserstein generative adversarial network (PT-WGAN) for low-dose PET image denoising. The contributions of this paper are twofold: i) a PT-WGAN framework is designed to denoise low-dose PET images without compromising structural details, and ii) a task-specific initialization based on transfer learning is developed to train PT-WGAN using trainable parameters transferred from a pretrained model, which significantly improves the training efficiency of PT-WGAN. The experimental results on clinical data show that the proposed network can suppress image noise more effectively while preserving better image fidelity than recently published state-of-the-art methods. We make our code available at https://github.com/90n9-yu/PT-WGAN.

Background: Recent preclinical studies have revealed a significant reduction in amyloid-β plaques and pro-inflammatory cytokines in Alzheimer's disease (AD) mouse models following low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT). This phase II, multicenter, prospective, single-blinded, randomized controlled trial (NCT05635968, funding from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power: Grant No. A21IP11) aims to investigate the efficacy and safety of whole-brain LDRT in patients with AD.

Background: Chronic innate neuroinflammation mediated by microglia and astrocytes in response to Aβ and pathological Tau species is a cardinal feature of AD that contributes to disease pathogenesis. Accumulating evidence now also highlight an instrumental role of T cells and peripheral-central immune crosstalk in the pathophysiology of AD. Both preclinical and clinical reports suggest the potential therapeutic interest of peripheral immunomodulatory approaches aimed at amplifying regulatory T cells (Tregs), e.

Lu-DOTATATE has emerged as a viable treatment strategy for advanced well-differentiated grade 1/2 gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs). Few retrospective studies have shown concomitant Lu-DOTATATE with radiosensitizing low-dose capecitabine to be effective in advanced NETs. However, this has not been validated in prospective randomized-controlled trials.

Objectives: To test the hypothesis that recently-developed total body-positron emission tomography (TB-PET) imaging with integrated computed tomography (CT) will enable low-dose, quantitative, domain-specific evaluation of the total inflammatory burden of psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and associate with established outcome measures of the clinical domains of PsA.

Methods: Seventy-one adult participants (40 with PsA, 16 with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), and 15 with osteoarthritis (OA)) underwent 20-min TB-PET/CT scans using [18F]FDG, a glucose analogue radiotracer. [18F]FDG uptake was assessed qualitatively and quantitatively.

This study aims to investigate the effect of Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction on the phenotypic transformation of pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells(PASMCs) in rats with hypoxic pulmonary hypertension(HPH). Healthy SPF SD rats were randomly assigned to five groups: control group, hypoxia model group, hypoxia + low-dose Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction group(440 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), hypoxia + high-dose Zhishi Xiebai Guizhi Decoction group(880 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), and hypoxia + sildenafil group(30 mg·kg~(-1)·d~(-1)), with right rats in each group. Rats in the hypoxia model and hypoxia + drug groups were exposed to a hypobaric oxygen chamber with a simulated altitude of 5 000 m to induce the PH model.
