Specialized or secondary metabolites are small molecules of biological origin, often showing potent biological activities with applications in agriculture, engineering and medicine. Usually, the biosynthesis of these natural products is governed by sets of co-regulated and physically clustered genes known as biosynthetic gene clusters (BGCs). To share information about BGCs in a standardized and machine-readable way, the Minimum Information about a Biosynthetic Gene cluster (MIBiG) data standard and repository was initiated in 2015.

SNP Fingerprinting for Germplasm Identification of the Fast-Growing Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) "Haida No. 1" Variety.

Mar Biotechnol (NY)

The Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) is a global aquaculture species of economic significance. Selective breeding programs have been conducted to produce multiple strains with fast growth as well as other desirable traits. However, due to the phenotypic plasticity of oysters, challenges existed for precise germplasm identification among selectively bred strains.

The traditional external standard calibration method (EC) is automated and simplified using a four-port switching valve (SV4) and a multi-signal approach that enables the generation of several calibration points from a single calibration solution. The SV4-EC method is applied to inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES) and is based on gradient dilution taking place within the instrument's sample introduction tubing. Both the calibration solution and the samples are diluted by a blank solution containing an internal standard species.

Gene-editing technologies promise to create a new class of therapeutics that can achieve permanent correction with a single intervention. Besides eliminating mutant alleles in familial disease, gene-editing can also be used to favorably manipulate upstream pathophysiologic events and alter disease-course in wider patient populations, but few such feasible therapeutic avenues have been reported. Here we use CRISPR-Cas9 to edit the last exon of amyloid precursor protein (), relevant for Alzheimer's disease (AD).

To investigate the effect of oyster shell powder (OSP) on the static and dynamic properties of expansive soil, the mechanical properties of modified soil were obtained. Taking Ningming expansive soil as the research object, triaxial shear test, dynamic triaxial test and scanning electron microscope test were carried out on plain soil and 9 % expansive soil modified by oyster shell powder (ESMO). The results show that compared with plain soil, the effective cohesion of modified expansive soil with < 1 mm (ESMO ( < 1 mm)) and < 0.
