Chagas cardiomyopathy, caused by the protozoal parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, is characterized by arrhythmias, myocardial damage, heart failure, and sudden death. We describe 2 dogs with severe, symptomatic Chagas cardiomyopathy characterized by myocardial dysfunction and electrocardiographic abnormalities that were managed with a combination of cardiac medications and antiparasitic treatment with itraconazole and amiodarone. Both dogs died suddenly within 6 months of diagnosis. These cases highlight the need for early detection of Chagas disease in dogs and continued research to develop effective antiparasitic treatment protocols.

The Peruvian grunt, , is beginning its domestication as a candidate species for marine aquaculture. The optimal management of fingerling production requires precise knowledge on early development. Herein, we report the methodology for capturing and conditioning wild specimens to find a viable broodstock.

In these cases, the antibiotics most often incriminated are macrolides and quinolones, but to our knowledge, there are no published cases of antibiomania secondary to cotrimoxazole. Furthermore, we also provide an update of pharmacovigilance data concerning antibiomania through a search of the World Health Organization (WHO) database.

To investigate the efficacy and mechanisms of fractional CO2 laser treatment for Vaginal Relaxation Syndrome (VRS) combined with recurrent bacterial vaginitis. Patients with VRS and recurrent bacterial vaginitis were randomly assigned to an intervention group (n = 60) receiving fractional CO2 laser therapy in addition to metronidazole, or a control group (n = 60) receiving metronidazole alone. Post-treatment assessments included vaginal relaxation, vaginal health index (VHI) scores, lactobacilli distribution, vaginal pH, recurrence rates, and the correlation between lactobacilli distribution and VHI.

N-methyladenosine (mA) is among the most abundant mRNA modifications, yet its cell-type-specific regulatory roles remain unclear. Here we show that mA methyltransferase-like 14 (METTL14) differentially regulates transcriptome in brown versus white adipose tissue (BAT and WAT), leading to divergent metabolic outcomes. In humans and mice with insulin resistance, METTL14 expression differs significantly from BAT and WAT in the context of its correlation with insulin sensitivity.
