Blood eosinophil (EOS) has recently been recognized as a biomarker for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients. However, few studies have concentrated on the stability of blood eosinophil counts (BEC), and those studies have produced varying results. With further research, we have found minor drawbacks and vulnerabilities that lead to the variability of the results. This paper enumerates several areas of relevant research with varying conclusions to further investigate the stability of BEC in COPD patients.

Fluid shear stress (FSS) from blood flow sensed by vascular endothelial cells (ECs) determines vessel behavior, but regulatory mechanisms are only partially understood. We used cell state transition assessment and regulation (cSTAR), a powerful computational method, to elucidate EC transcriptomic states under low shear stress (LSS), physiological shear stress (PSS), high shear stress (HSS), and oscillatory shear stress (OSS) that induce vessel inward remodeling, stabilization, outward remodeling, or disease susceptibility, respectively. Combined with a publicly available database on EC transcriptomic responses to drug treatments, this approach inferred a regulatory network controlling EC states and made several notable predictions.

The human immune system can recognize, attack, and eliminate cancer cells, but cancers can escape this immune surveillance. Variants of ecological predator-prey models can capture the dynamics of such cancer control mechanisms by adaptive immune system cells. These dynamical systems describe, e.

For the first time, a TiCT-MXene and poly (3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene): poly (styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT: PSS) composite-modified electrode has been developed for electrochemical detection of the bilirubin (BR) by molecularly imprinted ortho-phenylenediamine (o-PD). BR is a biomarker for liver-related diseases. High levels of BR imply liver dysfunction; hence, its exact and rapid measurement is indispensable to its immediate diagnosis and treatment.

Background: Spatial disorientation is an early symptom of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The hippocampus creates a cognitive map, wherein cells form firing fields in specific locations within an environment, termed place cells. Critically, place cells remain stable across visits to an environment, but change their firing rate or field location in a different environment.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) stands out as the most prevalent neurodegenerative condition globally, marked by a progressive cognitive decline. Its distinctive histopathological features include neurofibrillary tangles composed of Tau protein aggregates and amyloid beta (Aβ) aggregates forming neuritic plaques in the parenchyma and cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) in blood vessels. Intriguingly, it has been hypothesized that CAA induces alterations in the cells comprising the neurovascular unit (NVU), exacerbating the disease's symptoms.
