Background/objectives: Falls and fractures are emerging as a near-pandemic and major global health concern, placing an enormous burden on ageing patients and public health economies. Despite the high risk of polypharmacy in the elderly patients, falls are usually attributed to age-related changes. For the "Individual Pharmacotherapy Management (IPM)" established at the University Hospital Halle, the IPM medication adjustments and their association with in-hospital fall prevention were analysed.

Hospital admission due to fragility hip fracture has increased significantly in recent years. In patients with hip fracture, perioperative pain management is usually with opioids, whose dosage is difficult to adjust and have many side effects, especially in older adults. The purpose of this study was to determine the impact and the advantages of the implementation of the fascia iliaca blockade in older adults with hip fracture due to fragility included in the Orthogeriatric Clinical Care Center of the Fundación Santa Fe de Bogotá and the San José Infantil University Hospital in Bogotá, Colombia.

Background: Opioids are effective for post-operative pain control but are no longer considered appropriate as the sole method for managing pain after surgery. Newer, multimodal approaches to pain control are increasingly being employed to decrease reliance on opioids, but patient-related outcomes are not consistently reported with these interventions.
Objective: This study evaluated the effect of implementing a new multimodal therapy order set, coupled with new patient education materials, on post-operative outcomes after complex shoulder surgery.
