Celiac disease (CD) is a multisystem disorder known to manifest in a multitude of ways to include diarrhea, anemia, and nutritional deficiencies. The malabsorptive state can present as certain classical conditions such as autoimmune gastritis and osteopenia/osteoporosis but scurvy is less recognized within the literature. In this case, we present a unique presentation of scurvy as a result of an undiagnosed CD.

Large passenger ships are characterised as enclosed and crowded indoor spaces with frequent interactions between travellers, providing conditions that facilitate disease transmission. This study aims to provide an indoor ship CO dataset for inferring thermal comfort, ventilation and infectious disease transmission risk evaluation. Indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring was conducted in nine environments (three cabins, buffet, gym, bar, restaurant, pub and theatre), on board a cruise ship voyaging across the UK and EU, with the study conducted in the framework of the EU HEALTHY SAILING project.

Background: With various infectious disease risks to passenger ship travellers, guidance for infectious disease prevention, mitigation and management (PMM) exists. Emerging infections and emergencies necessitate updated, context-specific guidelines and practices. New evidence for infection PMM must be translated into guidance for governmental authorities and the passenger ship industry.

A Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) in the sailing process, excavating seabed sediment with the drag head and pumping it through the pipeline to the spoil hopper sedimentation. The spoil hopper sedimentation process, as a critical factor affecting the loading yield and efficiency of a dredger, is susceptible to the influence of different average sand grain diameter . However, the soil type tends to change continuously during the loading process, making it difficult to obtain the by measurement or calculation.

The control of hand movement during sailing is important for performance. To quantify the amount of regularity and the unpredictability of hand fluctuations during the task, the mathematical algorithm Approximate Entropy (ApEn) of the hand acceleration can be used. Approximate Entropy is a mathematical algorithm that depends on the combination of two input parameters including (1) the length of the sequences to be compared (m), and (2) the tolerance threshold for accepting similar patterns between two segments (r).
