Buprenorphine has superior safety in opioid use disorder compared with alternatives due to its action as a partial opioid agonist, which limits its ability to cause respiratory depression. There is a risk of precipitated opioid withdrawal after buprenorphine exposure in someone using full opioid agonists. Buprenorphine induction strategies that avoid precipitated withdrawal remain a crucial component for starting buprenorphine in individuals actively using opioids.

Purpose: To compare overall survival (OS), toxicity, and quality of life (QOL) in patients with metastatic gallbladder cancer receiving oral capecitabine (X) with best supportive care (BSC) and BSC alone.
Materials And Methods: Patients with metastatic gallbladder cancer and Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) ≥70 were accrued and assigned to either arm A or B. Assignment to these two arms was based on physician/patient discretion.

Background: The financial and resource burden of management of olecranon fractures in the elderly is likely to increase with an aging population. There is limited evidence guiding treatment choice in this cohort. This study aimed to determine whether operative treatment of displaced olecranon fractures in elderly patients provides superior 12-month functional outcomes compared to nonoperative treatment.

Background: The Exercise and Intensive Vascular Risk Reduction in Preventing Dementia (rrAD study) was a multicenter randomized, controlled trial to determine the effects of moderate to vigorous aerobic exercise training and intensive pharmacological treatment of cardiovascular risk factors on dementia prevention in older adults (NCT02913664). Treatment of distal radial fractures that include small anterior rim fragments can be difficult. We retrospectively reviewed 19 patients in whom an anterior rim plate with locking screws was used. After a median follow-up of 18 months (range 6-32; interquartile range (IQR) 14, 26), the median wrist flexion and extension arc was 70° (range 50-80; IQR 60, 70), the median grip strength was 80% of the contralateral side (range 52-104; IQR 77, 88), the median visual analogue scale score for pain was 0 (range 0-5; IQR 0, 1), the median disabilities of the arm, shoulder and hand score was 2 (range 0-59; IQR 0, 11) and the median modified Mayo wrist score was 80 (range 35-100; IQR 75, 85).
