Background: Significant efforts have been undertaken to decrease opioid prescribing, but there is little research into patient-specific factors presenting as barriers in the pediatric surgical population. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) have been shown to be a safe and effective alternative to opioids for pain control, however, concerns about their impact on renal function limit their use in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). Data is limited on the interplay of CKD on opioid prescribing.

Background: Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a condition that causes persistent and debilitating pain. Background: Local infiltration analgesia (LIA) is a crucial component of pain management during total knee arthroplasty (TKA), Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly included in the drug cocktail. The use of NSAIDs are associated with adverse renal, gastrointestinal, and cardiovascular effects. This study aimed to investigate whether the addition of an NSAID in LIA affects the incidence of acute kidney injury (AKI) in TKA patients, especially those who have pre-existing renal impairment.

Fractures are prevalent among the pediatric population, with approximately 1 in 3 children experiencing at least 1 fracture during childhood. Children are not just little adults; they have unique needs in pain management. With a lack of knowledge in pediatric pain management, medical staff primarily focus on the fractures, often overlooking and inadequately addressing pain.

Background: Laparoendoscopic single-site surgery is performed during laparoscopic donor nephrectomy (LDN) to reduce donor invasiveness. However, the procedure is difficult and does not improve cosmesis when the incision is made at the umbilicus. Therefore, we proposed a minimally invasive LDN with a Pfannenstiel incision using size-reduced trocars (mLDN) to achieve cosmesis and operability and aimed to assess its efficacy and safety.
