The peak of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis has exposed a substantial number of patients presenting with manifestations of venous and arterial thrombosis. Here, described is an extremely rare case of subclavian arterial thrombosis in a COVID-19 patient. Moreover, the patient presented with normal D-dimer, antinuclear antibody, fibrinogen, serum ferritin levels, prothrombin time, and platelet count. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first such case reported till date.

Background: Age and sex are well-known risk factors for cardiovascular complications and mortality following total hip arthroplasty (THA) and total knee arthroplasty (TKA). Yet, stratified up-to-date absolute risk estimates, which are needed to optimize prevention, are lacking.

Methods: All Dutch patients who had a first primary THA and TKA for osteoarthritis between 2015 and 2021 were included.

Department of Hematology and Cellular Therapy, National Reference Center "AL Amyloidosis and Other Monoclonal Immunoglobulin Deposit Diseases, University Hospital of Limoges, Limoges, France.

POEMS syndrome (Polyneuropathy, Organomegaly, Endocrinopathy, Monoclonal Protein, Skin changes) is a syndrome that involves a monoclonal B-cell proliferation, most often plasmacytic, and a variable number of manifestations listed or not in the acronym. These manifestations include sclerotic bone lesions, plasmacytic Castleman disease, papillary edema, peripheral edema, ascites, thrombocytosis and/or polycythemia, venous and/or arterial thrombosis, and renal, pulmonary, and cardiac impairments . Diagnosis is often delayed due to the rarity of this entity and its clinical polymorphism, which can mimic other neurological disorders.

Department of Internal Medicine, University of Genova, Genova, Italy; IRCCS Ospedale Policlinico San Martino, Genova, Italy. Electronic address:

Long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) may be involved in dysfunction of pulmonary artery endothelial cells (PAEC) and, thus, in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) pathobiology. We screened the RNA expression profile of commercial human PAEC (hPAEC) exposed to increased hydrostatic pressure, and found that the lncRNA Down syndrome critical region 9 (DSCR9) was the most regulated transcript (log2FC 1.89 vs control).
