Methods: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma levels of 38 biomarkers from 20 neurosarcoidosis (NS) patients were compared to healthy controls (HC).

Results: In CSF, 25 biomarkers were significantly elevated compared to HC: IFNγ, TNFα, TNFβ, IL-2, IL-6, IL-10, IL-12B, IL-15, IL-16, CCL2, CCL3, CCL4, CCL11, CCL13, CCL17, CCL22, CCL26, CXCL8, CXCL10, TNFR2, VEGF-A, PIGF, SAA, VCAM1, and ICAM1. In plasma, 12 biomarkers were significantly elevated compared to HC: IFNγ, TNFα, CCL2, CCL3, CCL4, CCL17, CXCL10, VEGFR1, PIGF, SAA, VCAM1, and ICAM1.

Conclusion: NS patients have profoundly elevated cytokines, chemokines, vascular angiogenesis, and vascular injury biomarkers in CSF and plasma.

: Brain tissue immersed in cerebrospinal fluid often exhibits complex mechanical behaviour, especially the nonlinear stress- strain and rate-dependent responses. Despite extensive research into its material properties, the impact of solution environments on the mechanical behaviour of brain tissue remains limited. This knowledge gap affects the biofidelity of head modelling.

Hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis with polyneuropathy (ATTRv-PN) is a neurodegenerative disease caused by mutations in the gene encoding transthyretin (TTR). Despite amyloid deposition being pathognomonic for diagnosis, this pathology in nervous tissues cannot fully account for nerve degeneration, implying additional pathophysiology for neurodegeneration, which, however, has not yet been fully elucidated. In this study, neuroinflammation in ATTRv-PN was investigated by examining nerve morphometry, the blood-nerve barrier, and macrophage infiltration in the sural nerves of ATTRv-PN patients and the sciatic nerves of a complementary mouse system, i.

A critical clinical consideration, in addition to other common risk factors predisposing individuals to idiopathic intracranial hypertension (IIH), involves the potential co-occurrence of increased intracranial pressure and elevated cerebrospinal fluid protein levels in the presence of underlying malignancies. Primary diffuse leptomeningeal melanomatosis, an exceptionally rare condition with few reported cases in the pediatric population, illustrates this scenario. Timely decision-making based on clinical suspicion to perform a biopsy and involving a skilled pathologist for accurate reporting are essential steps toward achieving a definitive diagnosis.

Purpose: To investigate the clinical features and prognosis of severe central nervous system (CNS) injury in children caused by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Method: We retrospectively studied confirmed pediatric cases of COVID-19 complicated with CNS injury.

Results: Nine patients diagnosed with COVID-19 complicated with severe CNS injury were admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit of the Affiliated Hospital of Jining University from December 1, 2022 to January 12, 2023.

Background: Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) loss in spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is accompanied by volume shifts between the intracranial compartments. This study investigated tricompartimental and longitudinal volume shifts after closure of a CSF leak.

Methods: Patients with SIH and suitable pre-therapeutic and post-therapeutic imaging for volumetric analysis were identified from our tertiary care center between 2020 and 2023.
