The treatment of Methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections has become challenging due to the growth of multidrug resistance in the bacteria. Here we report the synthesis of pyridine-coupled pyrazoles as an antimicrobial agent against MRSA. A series of pyridine coupled pyrazoles were synthesized and synthesized compounds were characterized using FT-IR, H NMR, and Mass spectroscopy. The ADMET results of all the 14 active compounds are interpreted. To identify the potent compound the synthesized compounds screened for minimum inhibitory concentrations against MRSA and compared with standard drug vancomycin. Among the synthesized compounds 6d exhibited good antibacterial activity with MIC value 21 μg/mL, bacterial cell membrane damage study was studied potassium efflux, and cellular content leakage assay. Anticoagulant study for the potent compound also studied and validated by molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation studies. The docking study of the synthesized compound was carried out and the study depicted that the pyridine ring of all the analogues binds with the various amino acids in the binding pocket of the active site of the Staphylocoagulase and PBP2a protein of MRSA.

Application of zeolites for efficient tannery wastewater remediation.

Environ Sci Pollut Res Int

December 2024

Stazione Sperimentale Per L'industria Delle Pelli E Delle Materie Concianti S.R.L., 80143, Napoli, Italy.

Leather manufacturing is the process of converting raw animal hides or skins into finished leather. The complex industrial procedures result in a tanning effluent composed of chemical compounds with potentially hazardous impacts on humans and ecosystems. Among the traditional and efficient wastewater treatments, adsorption is an effective and well-known approach, able to manage a wide range of contaminants from wastewater.

Half-Metallic Antiferromagnetic 2D Nonlayered CrSe Nanosheets.

ACS Nano

December 2024

SKKU Advanced Institute of Nanotechnology (SAINT), Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon 16419, Republic of Korea.

Half-metallic magnetism, characterized by metallic behavior in one spin direction and semiconducting or insulating behavior in the opposite spin direction, is an intriguing and highly useful physical property for advanced spintronics because it allows for the complete realization of 100% spin-polarized current. Particularly, half-metallic antiferromagnetism is recognized as an excellent candidate for the development of highly efficient spintronic devices due to its zero net magnetic moment combined with 100% spin polarization, which results in lower energy losses and eliminates stray magnetic fields compared to half-metallic ferromagnets. However, the synthesis and characterization of half-metallic antiferromagnets have not been reported until now as the theoretically proposed materials require a delicate and challenging approach to fabricate such complex compounds.

Discriminative stimulus properties of α-ethyltryptamine (α-ET) in rats: α-ET-like effects of MDMA, MDA and aryl-monomethoxy substituted derivatives of α-ET.

Psychopharmacology (Berl)

December 2024

Department of Medicinal Chemistry, School of Pharmacy, Medical College of Virginia Campus, Virginia Commonwealth University, 800 E. Leigh St., STE 205, Richmond, VA, 23219-0540, USA.

Rationale α-ET (α-ethyltryptamine), a homolog of the classical hallucinogen α-methyltryptamine, was once prescribed clinically as an antidepressant. Classical psychedelic drugs are currently of interest as potential pharmacotherapy for psychiatric disorders. Objectives Drug discrimination was used to (a) determine if α-ET-like stimulus effects could be engendered by the prototypical phenylalkylamines MDMA ("Ecstasy") or MDA ("Love Drug") and (b) evaluate the α-ET-like stimulus effects of four synthesized aryl-substituted monomethoxy analogs of α-ET (4-OMe-, 5-OMe-, 6-OMe- and 7-OMe-α-ET).

Instituto de Química, Laboratório de Química Metodológica e Orgânica Sintética (LaQMOS), Universidade de Brasília, 70904-970 Brasília, DF, Brazil.

In this work, several imidazo[1,2-]pyridines were synthesized through the Groebke-Blackburn-Bienaymé three-component reaction (GBB-3CR), and their phytotoxicity was evaluated by the influence on the growth of wheat coleoptiles and three important agricultural seeds (, , and ) at test concentrations of 1000, 300, 100, 30, and 10 μM. A structure-activity relationship was established, showing the importance of halogen groups at the position of the attached aromatic ring and the presence of a cyclohexylamine group for greater activity. Post-modification of some GBB-3CR adducts was carried out, leading to imidazo[1,2-]pyridine-tetrazole hybrids, which were also evaluated in these bioassays.

Background: Plant diseases caused by plant pathogens pose a great threat to biodiversity and food security, and the problem of drug resistance caused by traditional antibiotics and fungicides is becoming more and more serious. It is urgent to develop new antibacterial molecules with low toxicity and high efficiency. Marinoquinoline A is an alkaloid isolated from marine actinomycetes and has a variety of pharmacological activities.
