This study examined how adult children's divorce affected their financial support to older parents in rural China and how that relationship was dependent on children's gender. The sample was from rural Anhui Province and the working sample included 1629 older parents who reported their interactions with 6210 children across six waves of observations in 14 years (2001-2015). Generalized Estimating Equations showed that divorced sons provided less financial support to their parents than married sons. In contrast, divorced daughters did not necessarily provide less financial support than married daughters. This gender difference was statistically significant. The findings were discussed in the context of changing rural Chinese families, where the norm of filial piety is still strong but patrilineal tradition and gender ideology have experienced desynchronized changes.

Model organisms are commonly used to study human diseases; we set out to understand the relevance of several model organisms with relation to the σ1R protein. The study explored the interactions of σ1R with various agonists, antagonists across different species. Ligand and protein-protein (σ1R-BiP) docking approaches were used to understand the significance of σ1R in modulating neuroprotective mechanisms and its potential role in Alzheimer's.

The presentation of avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) characterized by fear of aversive consequences of eating (fear-ARFID) has both phenomenological and mechanistic similarities to panic disorder. In this narrative review, we propose a shared model of the pathogenesis of the two disorders, centered on interoceptive sensitivity as the key maintenance mechanism. We review the evidence that fear-ARFID, which involves restrictive eating motivated by a desire to avoid aversive events (e.

Treatment of HIV has historically required taking daily oral antiretroviral therapy (ART). A recent alternative to daily oral ART is long-acting injectable ART with cabotegravir plus rilpivirine, administered monthly or every 2 months. The purpose of this qualitative study was to evaluate the concept relevance and interpretability of five previously developed questions: one treatment preference question and four questions designed to assess how the emotional burden associated with HIV treatment impacts treatment preferences.

Tissue engineering and cartilage transplantation constitute an evolving field in the treatment of osteoarthritis, with therapeutic and clinical promise shown in autologous chondrocyte implantation. The aim of this systematic review is to explore current clinical trials that utilized autologous chondrocyte transplantation (ACT) and assess its efficacy in the treatment of osteoarthritis. PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE, and Google-Scholar (pages 1-20) were searched up until February 2023.
