Vanadyl(V) complexes and bearing a nematic liquid crystal (LC) like a -heptoxyphenyl group or a fluorous-tag -nonafluoroheptoxyphenyl (NFH) group at the C5 position of the -salicylidene template were designed and synthesized. Each complex was subjected to MVO-induced self-assembly to form metal-ion, encapsulated quartet clusters - and -. The Na in cluster complex - or - can be readily replaced by Rb, Ag, or Hg in an aqueous layer to form cluster complexes by ion swapping at the HO/CDCl bilayer interface. Selectivity profiles were examined with alkali-metal ions, Ag, and Hg through metal-ion competition experiments. The has an exclusive selectivity for Hg in the presence of Zn and Cd. Cluster complexes - were utilized as chiral dopants to nematic LC materials. The effects of the encapsulated metal ions within the alkali family and Ag on Cano's line widths and helical pitch changes were viewed in wedge cells under a polarized microscope. Their correlations with the ionic radius were identified. The subnano information of the metal ions can thus be asymmetrically amplified to Cano's line spacings of the submilimeter domain. Conversely, the effects of the encapsulated alkali metal ions and Hg in - on the interactions of their NFH tails toward fluorous silica gel (FSG) were performed via HPLC analyses. Their retention times became longer as the sizes of encapsulated, alkali metal ions increased. The increasing ion size from Na to Cs caused the four lower rim NFH tags of the cluster to be closer due to reduced cone angles. Their interactions among NFH tail groups on FSG became larger, thus leading to distinctive separations with from 7.36 to 10.27 min. The retention time difference between and on HPLC was ∼3.6 min, resulting in discernible separation. The individual ion size differences on the subnano scale can thus be amplified and unambiguously established in the real time domain.

All crystal structures containing nitrate ions, water molecules and one of the rare earth (RE) metal atoms (La-Lu, Y, Sc) were extracted from the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database. The composition of the identified compounds is analyzed in terms of the number of coordinated and uncoordinated water molecules and nitrate ions. Among the resulting compounds, several isotypic and morphotropic series are observed.

This study synthesizes a novel three-dimensional (3D) porous coordination polymer (CP), {[Co(L)₀.₅(H₂O)]·NMP·H₂O} (1), via a solvothermal method in a mixed solvent of water and NMP (1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone), reacting Co(II) ions with H₄L (1,4-bis(5,6-carboxybenzimidazolylmethyl)benzene). The CP exhibits unique fluorescence properties, emitting at 420 nm under UV light excitation at 350 nm, and serves as a carrier for Mesalazine (MSZ) in therapeutic applications.

Wastewater is commonly contaminated with many pharmaceutical pollutants, so an efficient purification method is required for their removal from wastewater. In this regard, an innovative tertiary Se/SnO@CMC/Fe-GA nanocomposite was synthesized through encapsulation of metal organic frameworks (Fe-glutaric acid) onto Se/SnO-embedded-sodium carboxy methyl cellulose matrix to thoroughly evaluate its effectiveness for adsorption of levofloxacin drug from wastewater. The prepared Se/SnO@CMC/Fe-GA nanocomposite was analyzed via UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermo gravimetric analysis (TGA), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to valuate optical property, size, morphology, thermal stability, and chemical composition.

The transition metal single atoms (SAs)-based catalysts with M-N coordination environment have shown excellent performance in electrocatalytic reduction of CO, and they have received extensive attention in recent years.
