Objective: Animal models for myocardial injuries represent important cornerstones in cardiovascular research to monitor the pathological processes and therapeutic approaches. We investigated the association of 18F-FDG derived left ventricular metabolic volume (LVMV), defect area and cardiac function in mice after permanent or transient ligation of the left anterior descending artery (LAD).
Methods: Serial non-invasive ECG-gated 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose positron emission tomography (18F-FDG PET) after permanent or transient LAD ligation enabled a longitudinal in vivo correlation of 18F-FDG derived left ventricular metabolic volume to functional parameters and myocardial defect.
Results: The LVMV shows a more prominent drop after permanent than transient LAD ligation and recovers after 30 days. The loss of LVMV correlates with the defect area assessed by QPS software. Cardiac function parameters (e.g., EDV, ESV, SV) by the QGS software positively correlate with LVMV after permanent and transient LAD ligation.
Conclusions: This study provides novel insight into 18F-FDG derived LVMV after permanent and transient LAD ligation by longitudinal in 18F-FDG PET imaging and underlines the associations of the FDG derived parameter and cardiac function.

Purpose Of Review: To summarize the heterogeneity in the elite controllers population with the aim to identify a compatible profile with a persistent HIV remission, making distinction between persistent elite controllers, people with HIV (PWHIV) who permanently maintain virological control in the absence of antiretroviral treatment (ART), and transient elite controllers, PWHIV who eventually lose virological control. For this purpose, it is important to consider the mechanisms and biomarkers that have previously been associated with the maintenance and loss of the natural virological control.
Recent Findings: Transient elite controllers, before losing virological control, exhibit a distinct metabolomic, proteomic, microRNAs (miRNA), immunological and virological profile compared to persistent elite controllers.

Stroke is a devastating cardiovascular disease with a high mortality rate, leading to a significant reduction in quality of life and life expectancy. Due to the complexity of the pathophysiological processes following stroke in humans, the use of animal models of stroke, in particular rodent models, is essential for the development of treatments for patients. Transient or permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAo) and photothrombotic models are the most commonly used to simulate ischemic stroke and are discussed in this review in detail.

Purpose: To examine the impact of placing plain and impregnated retraction cords for two different retraction times on the postoperative gingival margin level and periodontal health.
Materials And Methods: A total of 40 endodontically treated mandibular first molars were selected and randomly allocated into four groups (n = 10/group); A: plain retraction cord for 10 min, B: plain retraction cord, 20 min, C: impregnated (25% aluminum chloride (AlCl) retraction cord, 10 min, D: impregnated retraction cord (25% AlCl), 20 min. Intraoral digital scans were acquired, and periodontal parameters (Plaque index [PI], Bleeding on probing [BOP], and probing depth [PD]) were assessed at baseline, 7 days, and 28 days after retraction.
