Studies of the Stroop color-word task have provided evidence for the existence of two conflicts: (1) an early task conflict between noting the relevant color and reading afforded by the irrelevant word (or word-like stimuli), and (2) a late information conflict between the information provided by the word and the information provided by the color. Measurements of pupil changes, in addition to reaction time (RT), have extended understanding regarding these two conflicts. The current work examines the generalizability of such understanding. We ask whether similar processes work in the comparative judgment of numbers (e.g., in the numerical Stroop task). We present two experiments that support and extend the knowledge gained in the word-color context to numerical processing. Similar to results with the Stroop color-word task, we found a dissociation between RT and pupillometry and an early task conflict followed by an information conflict.

A positive association between pubertal maturity as assessed by skeletal development, and specific cognitive abilities has recently been demonstrated in a cohort of adolescent girls. The current study explores the impact of chronological age and relative pubertal maturity on executive function within the same cohort. Relative maturity, determined by the difference between chronological age and skeletal age, establishes the criteria for enrolling participants into average, advanced, or delayed relative maturity subgroups.

Background: Eye movement tasks, especially anti-saccade tasks, have been used to assess cognitive function in patients with neuropsychiatric disorders. Although it has been shown that individuals with cognitive impairment perform worse on anti-saccades tasks, there is a lack of systematic evaluation of the sensitivity of parameters of anti-saccades to assess different subtypes of cognitive impairment.
Methods: A total of 158 participants were enrolled in this study, consisting of 66 men and 92 women, with an average age of 50.

Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Undersea Medical Center (UMC) maintained safely deep 45 ATA SDHowever, cognitive performance was reportedly impaired by hyperbaric exposure in over 31 atmosphere absolute (ATA) SD. This study investigated the effects of hyperbaric exposure during 45 ATA deep SD on expert divers' cognitive function using Stroop tasks, a useful method to examine cognitive function, especially in narrow spaces such as SD chambers.
