Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) based screening of prostate cancer (PCa) needs refinement. The aim of this study was the identification of urinary biomarkers to predict the Prostate Imaging-Reporting and Data System (PI-RADS) score and the presence of PCa prior to prostate biopsy. Urine samples from patients with elevated PSA were collected prior to prostate biopsy (cohort = 99).

Urinary omics has become a powerful tool for elucidating pathophysiology of glomerular diseases. However, no urinary omics analysis has been performed yet on renal AA amyloidosis. Here, we performed a comparative urine proteomic and metabolomic analysis between recently diagnosed renal AA amyloidosis (AA) and membranous nephropathy (MN) patients.

Stone formation is induced by an increased level of urine crystallization promoters and reduced levels of its inhibitors. Crystallization inhibitors include citrate, magnesium, zinc, and organic compounds such as glycosaminoglycans. In the urine, there are various proteins, such as uromodulin (Tamm-Horsfall protein), calgranulin, osteopontin, bikunin, and nephrocalcin, that are present in the stone matrix.

The spondylodysplastic type of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (spEDS) is caused by genetic defects in the or genes both deranging the biosynthesis of the glycosaminoglycan linkage region of chondroitin/dermatan sulfate and heparan sulfate proteoglycans. In this study, we have analyzed the linkage regions of urinary chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans of three siblings, diagnosed with spEDS and carrying biallelic pathogenic variants of the gene. Proteoglycans were digested with trypsin, glycopeptides enriched on anion-exchange columns, depolymerized with chondroitinase ABC, and analyzed by nLC-MS/MS.

Aims: In our clinical work, some patients with type I hypersensitivity could be detected protein in their urine. This study focused on the early renal injury in patients with type I hypersensitivity.
Main Methods: From 43 type I hypersensitivity patients with proteinuria, 10 patients were randomly selected for mass spectrometry analysis of 24-h urine together with 5 healthy volunteers.
