The temperature dependence of the partial heat capacity of the native protein structure in an aqueous solution has been analyzed. It is shown that the strictly linear temperature dependence is due to the contributions of the vibrational and conformational components, which indicates volume consistensy and the absence of conformational transitions up to the main two-state transition. The two-level structural and functional organization of the protein three-dimensional structure are considered in relation to the energy and conformational entropy properties in accordance with the principles of the organization of the protein macromolecule.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. The behavior of supercooled glass-forming metals depends on the cooperative atomic fluctuations caused by dynamic heterogeneities in the melt. These spatial and temporal heterogeneities form dynamic clusters, which are regions of cooperative rearrangement (CRR). In this study, the macroscopic kinetics and the correlation length , of the CRR, are derived for PtCuNiP and PdCuNiP metallic glass-formers by fast differential scanning calorimetry near the glass transition.

A fast simulation approach for focused electron beam induced deposition (FEBID) numerically solves the diffusion-reaction equation (continuum model) of the precursor surface on the growing nanostructure in conjunction with a Monte Carlo simulation for electron transport in the growing deposit. An important requirement in this regard is to have access to a methodology that can be used to systematically determine the values for the set of precursor parameters needed for this model. In this work we introduce such a method to derive the precursor sticking coefficient as one member of the precursor parameter set.

This paper presents an investigation into the spatio-temporal dynamics of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) across the diverse health regions of Brazil from 2016 to 2024. Leveraging extensive datasets that include SARS cases, climate data, hospitalization records, and COVID-19 vaccination information, our study employs a Bayesian spatio-temporal generalized linear model to capture the intricate dependencies inherent in the dataset. The analysis reveals significant variations in the incidence of SARS cases over time, particularly during and between the distinct eras of pre-COVID-19, during, and post-COVID-19.

Global trends in marine turtle nesting numbers vary by region, influenced by environmental or anthropogenic factors. Our study investigates the potential role of past temperature fluctuations on these trends, particularly whether warmer beaches are linked to increased nesting due to higher female production (since sea turtles have temperature-dependent sex determination). We selected the loggerhead turtle (Caretta caretta) due to its wide distribution, strong philopatry and vulnerability to environmental changes.

This study evaluates the efficacy of garbage enzyme (GE) in bioremediation to reduce pollutants in sewage drains that discharge into the natural streams and rivers. Garbage enzyme is prepared with help of brown sugar, fruit, vegetable wastes, and water in the proportion 1:3:10 (by weight), which is then applied to the samples collected from various drainage sites in Jaunpur district, Uttar Pradesh, India. Different concentrations of GE (ranging from 0% to 20%) are mixed with sewage to assess pollution reduction.
