The value of real time ultrasonography (RTUS) in the management of first trimester elective pregnancy terminations was studied in 120 consecutive patients. RTUS was found essential in determining accurate gestational ages, identifying incomplete pregnancy terminations, diagnosing abnormal pregnancies, and in performing difficult terminations. It is suggested that RTUS be employed in the routine management of first trimester pregnancy terminations.

Fibrinogen-like (Fgl2) protein belongs to fibrinogen super family, which catalyzes the conversion of prothrombin to thrombin and is involved in the coagulation process. There are two different forms of functional Fgl2 protein: membrane associated Fgl2 (mFgl2) and soluble Fgl2 (sFgl2). mFgl2, as a type II transmembrane protein with property with prothrombinase activity from its N-terminal fragment, was extensively secreted or expressed by inflammatory macrophages, dendritic cells, Th1 cells and endothelial cells.

Mid-trimester preterm premature rupture of membranes is a rare complication of pregnancy associated with significant maternal and fetal risks. The ensuing prolonged oligohydramnios can lead to fetal pulmonary hypoplasia. In addition, there is an increased risk of miscarriage, preterm birth, and chorioamnionitis, contributing to septic morbidity in the mother-baby dyad.

Post-traumatic Stress Disorder and the Mental Burden Resulting from the Dobbs Decision.

Obstet Gynecol Clin North Am

Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, College of Medicine, University of Florida, FL, USA.

The obstetrics and mental health care fields have significant crossover. Women with unintended, undesired, or medically complex pregnancies are at greater risk of adverse mental health outcomes, which have the capacity to create long-lasting and intergenerational ripple effects within their larger family unit. Given the frequency with which women seek pregnancy terminations, the numerous factors that influence care accessibility, and the serious repercussions that stem from insufficient use of evidence-based care surrounding pregnancy termination, women are at risk of experiencing a range of mental health outcomes based on their experiences around pregnancy termination.
