Radical surgery for rectal cancer with bulky lateral pelvic lymph node (LPLN) metastasis involving the sciatic nerve presents both technical and oncological challenges. Preoperative multidisciplinary treatments have recently been anticipated to control the disease as well as to preserve organ function. A 51-year-old man, presenting with right buttock pain and impairment of walking, was diagnosed with sciatic nerve impairment due to right LPLN metastasis from rectal cancer.

As PI-LL mismatch is an effective index for spinal surgery and PI-LL less than 10 probably indicates better quality of life, this study aimed to assess spinopelvic parameters, lumbar instability, and lumbar muscle morphology in patients with chronic low back pain (CLBP) with different PI-LL mismatches. This cross-sectional study included 158 CLBP patients. The association between lumbar extensor muscle morphology (measured from magnetic resonance imaging) and spinopelvic parameters (measured from standing lateral radiographs) and lumbar instability (measured from lumbar flexion/extension radiographs) was compared between two groups of patients with different PI-LL mismatch.

In hepatic flexure and transverse colon cancer surgeries, mobilizing the right mesocolon and precisely dissecting the gastrocolic trunk of Henle (GTH) are crucial. Previous classifications of GTH tributaries do not guide radical right hemicolectomy due to post-procedural anatomical acquisition. This study analyzed vessel associations, including the middle colic vein (MCV) converging site, right colic artery (RCA) presence, and other GTH tributaries, using ultra-thin CT for reconstruction.

Background: Lateral pelvic lymph node dissection (LPND) is a challenging surgical technique with complex anatomy and narrow pelvic manipulation. The outcomes of robotic and laparoscopic surgery for LPND are still unclear.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 169 consecutive patients who underwent rectal cancer surgery with LPND between 2016 and 2023.

The handstand is an exercise performed in many sports, either for its own sake or as part of physical training. Unlike the upright bipedal standing posture, little is known about the sagittal alignment and balance of the spine during a handstand, which may hinder coaching and reduce the benefits of this exercise if not performed correctly. The purpose of this study was to quantify the sagittal alignment and balance of the spine during a handstand using radiographic images to characterize the strategies employed by the spino-pelvic complex during this posture.
