The magnetic and magnetocaloric properties of polycrystalline GdSrCaMnO ( = 0.0, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5) compounds have been investigated. Depending upon the Ca and Sr proportions, fascinating magnetic ground states were observed in the GdSrCaMnO compounds. Here, the dominating nature of the canted magnetic state (for the GdCaMnO compound) and glassy (disordered ferromagnetic) magnetic state (for the GdSrMnO compound) are observed. However, for the intermediate doped samples ( = 0.2, 0.3, 0.4), a competing nature is found in their magnetic and exchange bias properties. Additionally, in the low temperature region, a significantly large magnetocaloric effect is observed for all the samples. At a 70 kOe external magnetic field, the highest observed value of the magnetocaloric entropy change is 21.58 J kg K (for the GdCaMnO sample) and the lowest is 10.15 J kg K (for the GdSrMnO sample).

There has been considerable interest in the recent advances in synthetic micro/nanomotors in diverse biofluids due to their potential biomedical applications. However, the propulsion of existing micro/nanomotor platforms for delivery in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract is inefficient. Herein, we present a magnetically and chemically actuated micromotor-tableted pill that can be actively retained in the GI tract .

In the history of magnetochemistry development, lanthanide-transition (3d-4f) heterometallic compounds have been considered an attractive candidate for magnetic refrigerants. Herein, a series of heterometallic compounds have been designed and templated by CO anions, that is, {[LnNi(L)(CO)(HO)]·HO} [Ln = Gd (. Gd2Ni) = Sm (.

Cryogenic magnetic refrigerants based on the magnetocaloric effect (MCE) hold significant potential as substitutes for the expensive and scarce He-3. Gd(III)-based complexes are considered excellent candidates for low-temperature magnetic refrigerants. We have synthesized a series of Ln(III)-based metal-organic framework (MOF) (Ln = Gd/Dy) by the slow release of oxalates in situ from organic ligands (disodium edetate dehydrate (EDTA-2Na) and thiodiglycolic acid).

We systematically investigate the magnetization and thermodynamic responses associated with antiferromagnetic (AFM) transitions in single crystals of the magnetic semiconductor Eu3InAs3. The linear thermal expansion measurements around the AFM transition temperatures, TN1 and TN2, indicate an expansion along the a axis and contraction along the b and c axes. The calculated ∆V/V(T) shows a continuous change at TN, indicating a second-order magnetic phase transition.
