Unlabelled: Performing optimal Bayesian design for discriminating between competing models is computationally intensive as it involves estimating posterior model probabilities for thousands of simulated data sets. This issue is compounded further when the likelihood functions for the rival models are computationally expensive. A new approach using supervised classification methods is developed to perform Bayesian optimal model discrimination design. This approach requires considerably fewer simulations from the candidate models than previous approaches using approximate Bayesian computation. Further, it is easy to assess the performance of the optimal design through the misclassification error rate. The approach is particularly useful in the presence of models with intractable likelihoods but can also provide computational advantages when the likelihoods are manageable.

Background: The optimal pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic (PK/PD) parameters of vancomycin that can improve outcomes in enterococcal infections remain controversial. To clarify the therapeutic target for this antibiotic, this study aimed to determine vancomycin PK/PD parameters associated with efficacy in the early (during 72 h) or later (after 72 h) phase of treatment and nephrotoxicity in enterococcal bloodstream infection patients.

Methods: This multicenter retrospective study reviewed medical records of patients with enterococcal bloodstream infections treated with intravenous vancomycin infusion for at least 72 h between January 2016 and March 2024 at Phramongkutklao Hospital or Nopparatrajathanee Hospital in Bangkok, and Rachaburi Hospital in Rachaburi Province, Thailand.

Green technology innovation (GTI) in China's waste power battery recycling (WPBR) sector is a key driver for sustainable resource management, environmental protection, and economic prosperity. Using the PSR-BN-GPT-4 model and multi-source data, this study explores China's WPBRenterprises' high-level GTI mechanism. The research concludes that (1) Compared to traditional expert knowledge, the Bayesian network model based on GPT-4 exhibits superior causal reasoning capability.

A Bayesian Network model to integrate blue-green and gray infrastructure systems for different urban conditions.

J Environ Manage

College of Interdisciplinary Studies, Zayed University, Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In facing growing challenges in cities and the environment, cities need to make informed decisions on where and how to allocate resources for infrastructure investments. Nature-based Solutions present a promising approach to urban environmental and socioeconomic challenges, but their successful integration into urban planning requires a nuanced understanding of both their benefits and limitations. This paper presents a preliminary Bayesian Network model designed to model the optimal integration of specific blue-green and gray Infrastructure solutions in hybrid systems for specific local contexts.

Optimal embryonic development depends upon cell-signaling molecules released by the maternal reproductive tract called embryokines. Identity of specific embryokines that enhance competence of the embryo for sustained survival is largely lacking. The current objective was to evaluate effects of three putative embryokines in cattle on embryonic development to the blastocyst stage.

Software-Defined Networks (SDN) provides more control and network operation over a network infrastructure as an emerging and revolutionary paradigm in networking. Operating the many network applications and preserving the network services and functions, the SDN controller is regarded as the operating system of the SDN-based network architecture. The SDN has several security problems because of its intricate design, even with all its amazing features.
