A comparative study is presented. The method via chemical variational autoencoder (VAE) and the method via similarity search are compared, focusing on their generation ability for new functional molecular design. Focusing on the natural porphyra-334 as a model molecule, we generated three groups: molecules of mycosporine-like amino acids (MAAs) as seeds ( ), molecules generated via chemical VAE ( ) and molecules gathered via similarity search ( ). The number of molecules that satisfy the condition for the light absorption ability of porphyra-334 in , , and are 52, 138, and 6, respectively. The method via chemical VAE shows a promising potential for future molecular design. By using quantum chemistry wave function properties for chemical VAE, we find new molecules that are comparable to porphyra-334, including some with unexpected geometries. At the end, we show a group of molecules found with this method.

Importance: Serial circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) has emerged as a routine surveillance strategy for patients with resected colorectal cancer, but how serial ctDNA monitoring is associated with potential curative outcomes has not been formally assessed.
Objective: To examine whether there is a benefit of adding serial ctDNA assays to standard-of-care imaging surveillance for potential curative outcomes in patients with resected colorectal cancer.
Design, Setting, And Participants: In this single-center (City of Hope Comprehensive Cancer Center, Duarte, California), retrospective, case cohort study, patients with stage II to IV colorectal cancer underwent curative resection and were monitored with serial ctDNA assay and National Cancer Center Network (NCCN)-guided imaging surveillance from September 20, 2019, to April 3, 2024.

Natural compounds' derivatives as lead structures could effectively solve plant disease problems. In this article, amide compounds and amide ester compounds were synthetized through ferulic acid as the parent nucleus structure, and their biological activities in vitro and in vivo were evaluated. Compound 1q was screened out as the one with the best activity performance toward Xanthomonas axonopodis pv.

Integrated genome-wide association study and linkage mapping revealed genetic basis of alkalinity tolerance during rice germination. The key gene OsWRKY49 was further verified in transgenic plants. With the widespread use of the rice direct seeding cultivation model, improving the tolerance of rice varieties to salinity-alkalinity at the germination stage has become increasingly important.
