Participation as a Pillar of Active Ageing: The Role of Eudaimonic Psychological and Health Factors.

Geriatrics (Basel)

January 2025

Department of Psychology of the Personality, Evaluation and Psychological Treatments, Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia (UNED), 28040 Madrid, Spain.

With ageing population projections, promoting positive ageing trajectories is critical. While health is often emphasised, eudaimonic psychological factors remain underexamined. A qualitative study presented throughout the main text highlighted the importance of psychological factors like purpose in life and resilience in fostering participation and subjective well-being, even amidst declining health.

Strategies for combining ionic and non-ionic functional groups are important for altering detergent properties and exploring new chemical spaces within the detergentome. Previous synthesis protocols for ionic/non-ionic hybrid detergents require asymmetric detergent precursors with independently addressable hydroxyl groups that can be decorated with charged groups. However, preparation of ionic/non-ionic headgroups can be tedious in terms of required synthesis steps and resource consumption.

Background: Engaging patients in quality improvement and innovation projects is increasingly important, yet challenges persist with involving patients who speak languages other than English. This article presents design activities our team used to engage Spanish-speaking patients and cultural brokers.

Objective: To develop a clinician communication tool to enhance patient trust in pregnancy care clinicians, especially among minoritized populations who face language and cultural barriers, using human-centered design (HCD).

The role of community-based para-professionals in supporting early childhood development (ECD) supports has attracted increased attention recently, particularly in the context of severe constraints in the global health workforce. However, these practitioners face challenges associated with low status and poor working conditions.

Insights into the role of phosphorylation on microtubule crosslinking by PRC1.

Mol Biol Cell

January 2025

Department of Biological Sciences, Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, NY 12180, USA.

The mitotic spindle is composed of distinct networks of microtubules, including interpolar bundles that can bridge sister kinetochore fibers and bundles that organize the spindle midzone in anaphase. The crosslinking protein PRC1 can mediate such bundling interactions between antiparallel microtubules. PRC1 is a substrate of mitotic kinases including CDK/cyclin-B, suggesting that it can be phosphorylated in metaphase and dephosphorylated in anaphase.
