The COVID-19 pandemic's effects on college student mental health and its underlying mechanisms are not fully understood. Although necessary, physical distancing abruptly restricts interaction with environmental rewards and disrupts sleep patterns, both of which may contribute to psychological symptoms (eg, depression and anhedonia). This study explored differences in psychological symptoms, reward exposure and responsiveness, and sleep before versus during the pandemic. Eighty-seven college students completed baseline questionnaires and a one-week daily diary paradigm. The sample was divided into two groups based on data collection before (pre-) or after (post-COVID-19) implementation of state-wide COVID-19 physical distancing measures. Findings highlight higher anhedonia, decrements in exposure to social, professional, and exercise related rewards, lower aniticipatory reward responsiveness, and lower sleep efficiency among college students during the initial months of the pandemic. Findings suggest anhedonia, reward system functioning, and sleep may be important targets to mitigate against college student mental health sequelae during COVID-19.

Aim: The aim of this study was to compare the marginal accuracy of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and zirconia copings fabricated using computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology, and to assess the impact of their material properties on accuracy when produced with a 4-axis milling system under controlled conditions.
Settings And Design: The study employed an in vitro design with a stainless steel die model featuring a 6 mm axial wall height, a 6-degree total occlusal convergence, and a radial shoulder finish line.
Materials And Methods: Thirty stone dies were created from silicone impressions of the metal die and poured using type-IV dental stone.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, a multidisciplinary team at the University of Kentucky developed an interdisciplinary science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and environmental health unit-the Wastewater Assessment for Coronavirus in Kentucky: Implementing Enhanced Surveillance Technology (WACKIEST) Unit-for high school students in summer 2022. This case study outlines the WACKIEST Unit, which focused on wastewater surveillance and COVID-19, the obstacles faced during development and recruitment, and implementation of the WACKIEST Unit in conjunction with a rural wastewater surveillance initiative. The unit was implemented in spring 2023 at a rural high school in Kentucky, spanning 12 days and engaging 190 students.

Aims: N-Demethylsinomenine (NDSM) demonstrates good analgesic efficacy in preclinical pain models. However, how NDSM exerts analgesic actions remains unknown.
Methods: We examined the analgesic effects of NDSM using both pain-evoked and pain-suppressed behavioral assays in two persistent pain models.
