Objective: To investigate the effect of montelukast sodium (singulair) combined with ketotifen fumarate on the acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (AECOPD) with airway hyperresponsiveness (AHR) and its effect on helper T cells 17 (Th17)/regulator T cells (Treg).
Methods: 168 patients with AECOPD and AHR diagnosed in our hospital from February 2018 to December 2019 were selected, and divided into the observation group ( = 84) and the control group ( = 84). Both groups were given anti infection, bronchodilator, glucocorticoid, phosphodiesterase inhibitor, cough and expectorant. The observation group was additionally treated with singulair tablets and ketotifen tablets for 14 days. The curative effect were observed after treatment. The first second forced expiratory volume (FEV1), forced vital capacity (FVC) and FEV1 as percentage of predicted value (FEV1% pred), blood oxygen pressure (PaO) and blood carbon dioxide pressure (PaCO), high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT), Th17 and Treg levels were measured in both groups before and after treatment.
Results: Compared with the control group, the total effective rate after treatment in the observation group was increased (94.05 vs. 75.00%, < 0.05). Compared with before treatment, the FEV1, FVC and FEV1%pred levels of the two groups of patients after treatment were increased ( < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the FEV1, FVC and FEV1%pred levels of the observation group were increased after treatment ( < 0.05). Compared with before treatment, the PaCO2, hs-CRP and PCT levels of the two groups of patients were reduced after treatment, and PaO2 levels were increased ( < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the PaCO2, hs-CRP and PCT levels in the observation group were reduced after treatment, and the PaO2 level was increased ( < 0.05). Compared with before treatment, Th17 and Th17/Treg levels of the two groups of patients were reduced after treatment, and Treg levels were increased ( < 0.05). Compared with the control group, the Th17 and Th17/Treg levels of the observation group were reduced after treatment, and the Treg levels was increased ( < 0.05).
Conclusion: Singulair combined with ketotifen in the treatment of patients with AECOPD combined with AHR can significantly improve the efficacy, improve lung function, reduce inflammatory response, and improve the balance of Th17/Treg, effectively controlling the disease.

The clinical evidence, complications and the pathogenesis of COVID-19 are not clearly understood. In COVID-19 patients, cellular immune response biomarkers and oxidative stress parameters have been used as gravity markers. Indeed, oxidative stress has been proposed to play an essential role in the genesis of COVID-19.

The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of supplementary feeding with Chinese herbal mixtures on perinatal sows, focusing on their reproductive performance, immunity and breast milk quality. Sixty healthy pregnant sows (Large white, 4 parities) were randomly allocated into five treatment groups ( = 12 per group): the control group received a basal diet, the TRT1 group received a basal diet supplemented with 2 kg/t Bazhen powder (BZP), while the TRT2, TRT3, and TRT4 groups received a basal diet supplemented with 1 kg/t, 2 kg/t, and 3 kg/t Qi-Zhu-Gui-Shao soothing liver and replenishing blood powder (QZGSP), respectively. The trial lasted for a duration of 5 weeks, commencing from day 100 of gestation and concluding on day 21 postpartum.

Background: Surgical site infections (SSI) following clean abdominal surgery in cattle pose significant economic and welfare concerns. Preoperative skin asepsis aims to minimize microbial load over the surgical field before and throughout surgery to minimize its risk. While chlorhexidine (CHX) and povidone-iodine (PVI) are commonly used antiseptics for this purpose, our study introduces the so far unexplored use of octenidine (OCT) in veterinary surgery.

The ability to reliably induce bovine digital dermatitis (DD) in naive calves provides unique opportunities to evaluate immune responses of the calves to infection after disease induction, during healing, and after subsequent re-infection. Dairy calves infected in a previous induction trial were held until lesions resolved and were then re-infected in parallel with naïve calves. Humoral and cell-mediated responses were assessed via serum antibody titer and lymphocyte proliferation analysis with responses of previously infected calves compared with responses of the newly infected calves and naïve calves.

Background: Clinically ineffective reperfusion (CIR) refers to the discrepancy between successful reperfusion and a favorable functional outcome in patients with large vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke after endovascular treatment (EVT). The Improving Neuroprotective Strategy for Ischemic Stroke with Sufficient Recanalization after Thrombectomy by Intra-arterial Cocktail Therapy (INSIST-CT) trial aimed to explore the safety, feasibility, and efficacy of intra-arterial cocktail therapy using argatroban, dexamethasone, and edaravone in patients who achieved sufficient reperfusion after EVT.
Methods: In this prospective, single-arm, pilot study, eligible patients with anterior circulation LVO who achieved sufficient reperfusion after EVT were enrolled in the INSIST-CT trial.
