Complexes [Ag(L)], 2 (L = 2,2'-(imidazolium-1,3-diyl)di(2-acetate)), were prepared by treatment of compounds HL, 1, with AgO. They were characterised by analytical, spectroscopic (IR, H and C NMR and polarimetry) and X-ray methods (2c, 2c' and 2e). In the solid state, these compounds are novel one-dimensional or two-dimensional coordination polymers in which silver(I) cations are connected the chiral [L] anion with unprecedented coordination modes. The antimicrobial properties of these complexes were evaluated. 2a and 2b' showed the best antimicrobial properties (minimal inhibitory concentrations and minimal bactericidal concentration) for and pathogens. Eutomers 2b' and 2c' showed slightly better antimicrobial properties than their respective enantiomers 2b and 2c.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major cause of death worldwide. This urges the search for alternatives to antibiotics, and antimicrobial polymers hold promise due to their reduced susceptibility to AMR. The topology of such macromolecules has a strong impact on their activity, with bottlebrush architectures outperforming their linear counterparts significantly.

The P2X4 receptor (P2X4R), a ligand-gated ion channel activated by ATP, plays a critical role in neuroinflammation, chronic pain, and cancer progression, making it a promising therapeutic target. In this study, we explored the design and synthesis of piperazine-based P2X4R antagonists, building on the structural framework of paroxetine. A series of over 35 compounds were synthesized to investigate structure-activity relationships (SARs) in a Ca²⁺-flux assay for P2X4R antagonistic activity.
