This protocol aims to measure ion dynamics in nociceptive terminal endings in intact mice . We describe viral injection of GCaMP6s + RFP into trigeminal ganglia (TG) of mice, followed by calcium imaging of corneal nociceptive terminals that express GCaMP6s and RFP. This fast and high-resolution optical recording technique enables studying a nociceptive terminal's functional molecular network in physiological and pathological conditions. This platform can be applied to studying the physiology of terminals of other neurons. For complete details on the use and execution of this protocol, please refer to Goldstein et al. (2019).

Sn-based electrodes are promising candidates for next-generation lithium-ion batteries. However, it suffers from deleterious micro-structural deformation as it undergoes drastic volume changes upon lithium insertion and extraction. Progress in designing these materials is limited to complex structures.

The activation mechanism of Li-rich cathode has been discussed for many years, yet there is still debate on different theories. Potassium doping can assist the investigation on activation mechanism through its unique function in terms of blocking TM migration during activation. K-doping works by occupying Li sites even after Li has been extracted, increasing stability by blocking transition metals from migrating into these sites, which can help us distinguish the pathway of activation.

Some novel sulphonyl thiourea derivatives (7a-m) containing 4,6-diarylpyrimidine rings were designed and synthesized using a one-pot procedure. These compounds exhibited remarkable dual inhibitory activity against human carbonic anhydrase CA I, CA II, CA IX, and XII isoenzymes and some cancer cell lines. Among them, some thioureas had significantly more potent inhibitory activities in the order of 7l > 7c > 7f (against the CA I isoform), 7f > 7b > 7c (against the CA II isoform), 7c > 7g > 7a > 7b (against the CA IX isoform), and 7d > 7c > 7g > 7f (against the CA XII isoform).

We present the synthesis of a lanthanoid-organic framework (LOF) featuring a dynamic structure that exhibits tunable magnetic properties. The LOF undergoes breathing and gate-opening phenomena in response to changes in DMF content and N sorption, leading to the emergence of new crystal phases with distinct characteristics. Notably, the desolvated form of the LOF excels as a single-ion magnet, while the fully activated structure demonstrates impressive qubit properties, exhibiting Rabi oscillations up to 60 K.

Anthropogenic carbon dioxide emissions have been increasing rapidly in recent years, driving pH and oxygen levels to record low concentrations in the oceans. Eastern boundary upwelling systems such as the California Current System (CCS) experience exacerbated ocean acidification and hypoxia (OAH) due to the physical and chemical properties of the transported deeper waters. Research efforts have significantly increased in recent years to investigate the deleterious effects of climate change on marine species, but have not focused on the impacts of simultaneous OAH stressor exposure.
