As an important metal phosphides material, 2D tin phosphides (SnP 0 < x ≤ 3) have been theoretically predicted to have intriguing physicochemical properties and potential applications in electronics, optoelectronics, and energy fields. However, the synthesis of high-quality 2D SnP single crystal has not been reported due to the lack of efficiency and reliable growth method. Here, a facile atmospheric pressure chemical vapor deposition (APCVD) method is developed to realize the growth of high-quality 2D SnP nanosheets, by employing tin (Sn) foil as both liquid metal substrates and reaction precursor. Temperature-dependent and angle-resolved polarization Raman spectra observed Raman peaks located at 142.6, 303.3, and 444.2 cm are concluded to belong to A mode, which are consistent with the theoretical calculation results. Moreover, the field-effect transistor (FET) devices based on SnP nanosheets show a typical n-type characteristic with an on/off ratio of 10 at 200 K. SnP nanosheets also demonstrate excellent photoresponse performance under the illumination of 473, 532, and 639 nm lasers, which can be tuned by V , V , and light power density. It is believed that these findings can provide the first-hand experimental information for the future study of 2D SnP nanosheets.

Two-dimensional materials with layered structures, appropriate band gaps, and high carrier mobility have attracted tremendous interest for their potential applications. Here we report the growth of monolayer SnP on Au(111) surfaces by molecular beam epitaxy. The kinetic processes for the growth and the crystalline properties are studied by scanning tunneling microscopy.

Engineering energy-storage materials possessing high-speed electronic and ionic transport properties for secondary batteries is significant. Here, we develop a ternary one-dimensional mesostructured anode composed of MoS nanosheets grown on SnP nanotubes infilled with FeP nanospheres, which is prepared by magnetic-field-induced self-assembly. The mesostructure provides fast transport pathways for electrons, as verified through a galvanostatic intermittent titration technique; and the voids effectively alleviate the volume change, enabling long-term cycling stability.

Two-dimensional nanostructures have gained tremendous interest in the field of biomedical applications and cancer activity in particular. Although sulfur is known for its wide range of biological activities, its potentiality in two-dimensional forms as an antitumor agent is hitherto unexplored. To address the current deficient knowledge on nano-sulfur as an antitumor agent, we report the synthesis of nano-sulfur sheets/particles and their cytotoxic, apoptotic activity against human carcinoma cell lines.

Three-dimensional (3D) ordered construction of nanoparticles (NPs) has attracted much attention in wide applications, however, techniques with respect to cost effective nanofabrication of well defined functional architectures is still lacking. To address this specific issue, a bio-interface confinement approach is proposed that precisely replicates the complex cellular structural features of microbes and integrates silver NP (SNP) building blocks into their 3D framework in a precise, low cost and mass production way. Herein, the SNPs with nanospheres and nanosheets structure were synthesized by way of electroless deposition using Spirulina as template.
