Design, characterisation, and clinical evaluation of a novel porous Ti-6Al-4V hemipelvic prosthesis based on Voronoi diagram.

Biomater Transl

September 2024

Orthopaedic Research Institute and Department of Orthopaedics, West China Hospital, Sichuan University, Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China.

Three-dimensional printed Ti-6Al-4V hemipelvic prosthesis has become a current popular method for pelvic defect reconstruction. This paper presents a novel biomimetic hemipelvic prosthesis design that utilises patient-specific anatomical data in conjunction with the Voronoi diagram algorithm. Unlike traditional design methods that rely on fixed, homogeneous unit cell, the Voronoi diagram enables to create imitation of trabecular structure (ITS).

Background: CT-routine MRI fusion imaging has recently become available to evaluate spinal anatomy before surgery. Due to the 3-5 mm slice thickness and non-isotropic of routine MRI sequence, the CT-routine MRI fusion imaging is not good. The MRI multiple recalled gradient echo (MERGE) sequence is potentially useful in diagnosis of lumbar degeneration disease due to the better nerve roots visualization, 1 mm slice thickness and its isotropy.

TD-STrans: Tri-domain sparse-view CT reconstruction based on sparse transformer.

December 2024

Department of Information and Communication Engineering, North University of China, Taiyuan 030051, China; The State Key Lab for Electronic Testing Technology, North University of China, Taiyuan 030051, China. Electronic address:

Background And Objective: Sparse-view computed tomography (CT) speeds up scanning and reduces radiation exposure in medical diagnosis. However, when the projection views are severely under-sampled, deep learning-based reconstruction methods often suffer from over-smoothing of the reconstructed images due to the lack of high-frequency information. To address this issue, we introduce frequency domain information into the popular projection-image domain reconstruction, proposing a Tri-Domain sparse-view CT reconstruction model based on Sparse Transformer (TD-STrans).

Comparison of DWI techniques in patients with epidermoid cyst: TGSE-BLADE DWI vs. SS-EPI DWI.

Jpn J Radiol

December 2024

Department of Diagnostic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, 54 Shogoin Kawaharacho, Kyoto, 6068507, Japan.

Purpose: To compare quantitative values and image quality between single-shot echo-planar imaging (SS-EPI) diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and two-dimensional turbo gradient- and spin-echo DWI with non-Cartesian BLADE trajectory (TGSE-BLADE DWI) in patients with epidermoid cyst.

Methods: Patients with epidermoid cyst who underwent both SS-EPI DWI and TGSE-BLADE DWI were included in this study. Two raters placed ROIs encircling the entire epidermoid cyst on SS-EPI DWI, and then on TGSE-BLADE DWI.

Ultrasound (US) is a widely used technique for liver disease but has limitations in distinguishing tumors. This study evaluates the clinical efficacy of fluctuational imaging (FLI), a new US method that detects the fluttering sign in liver tumors. We conducted a prospective exploratory study with 120 participants diagnosed with liver tumors through histopathology or standard imaging.
