The simplest geminal diol CH(OH) serves as an important precursor to form atmospheric formic acid. CH(OH) vapour can be generated by the evaporation of an aqueous formaldehyde solution, prepared by dissolving paraformaldehyde under reflux. Its rovibrational feature at 980-1100 cm is consistent with the simulation and free of the intense interferences of HO and CHO.

Graft-through ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of norbornene-terminated macromonomers (MMs) prepared using various polymerization methods has been extensively used for the synthesis of bottlebrush (co)polymers, yet the potential of ROMP for the synthesis of MMs that can subsequently be polymerized by graft-through ROMP to produce new bottlebrush compositions remains untapped. Here, we report an efficient "ROMP-of-ROMP" method that involves the synthesis of norbornene-terminated poly(norbornene imide) (PNI)-based MMs that, following ROMP, provide new families of bottlebrush (co)polymers and "brush-on-brush" hierarchical architectures. In the bulk state, the organization of the PNI pendants drives bottlebrush backbone extension to enable rapid assembly of asymmetric lamellar morphologies with large asymmetry factors.

To address this, a SERS sensor of gold nanoparticles@polydopamine@poly(methyl methacrylate) MN (AuNPs@PDA@PMMA-MN) was developed. Spilled plant-based oils behave very differently in comparison to petroleum oils and require different clean-up measures. They do not evaporate, disperse, dissolve, or emulsify to a significant degree but can polymerize and form an impermeable cap on sediment, smothering benthic media and resulting in an immediate impact on the wildlife community. The current study explored the application of rapid up-to-date direct analysis in real time (DART) with high-resolution mass spectrometry for plant-based oil typing.

Fe, Ni, and Cu doped ceria nanoparticles (CeNPs) were prepared with a simple and one-pot hydrothermal synthesis method. We investigated the chemiluminescence (CL) interaction between these NPs and rhodamine B (Rh B) and found that the highest CL intensity was related to the Rh B- Cu doped CeNPs. We assigned that to the higher catalytic property of Cu doped NPs compared to the others.
