Members of the genus Circovirus have been identified in several host species. While initially considered host-specific, there is growing evidence of their presence in unexpected hosts. Porcine circovirus 2 (PCV-2) is no exception, having been reported in animals belonging to different orders, including carnivores. Recently, PCV-2 was detected in domestic pigs, warthogs and antelopes in Namibia. Considering the potential contact between these populations and wild carnivores, the presence of PCV-2 was investigated in 32 black-backed jackals () shot between February and July 2021 as part of predator control operations in Namibia. Two lung lymph nodes tested positive for PCV-2 by PCR, confirming the broader-than-expected PCV-2 host tropism and the susceptibility of canids. Sequence analysis demonstrated a close association between the PCV-2s identified in the jackals and PCV-2b strains collected from South African domestic pigs. Although several hypotheses regarding the source of the jackal's infection are proposed, further studies should be performed to properly assess how PCV-2 is acquired and maintained in the wild and its potential impact on wild and domestic species.

(PCV2) is the main and primary causative agent of Postweaning Multisystemic Wasting Syndrome (PMWS). To date, immunoperoxidase monolayer assay (IPMA), indirect immunofluorescent assay (IFA), and enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) are the most commonly diagnostic methods for detecting PCV2 antigens. However, these methods require specialized equipment and technical expertise and are suitable for laboratory use only.

Diseases associated with porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and pseudorabies virus (PRV) significantly affect the economy of pig farms, particularly when combined infections lead to bacterial co-infections. Antigens from the pseudorabies variant strain gB and gD proteins and PCV2 (genotyped) Cap protein were mixed with the pattern recognition receptor (PRR) agonist FLICd as adjuvants and formulated with a micro-hydrogel adjuvant into PCV2 and PRV bivalent subunit vaccines. Twenty pigs, aged 30-35 days, were divided into groups A (received bivalent subunit vaccine) and B (received bivalent subunit vaccines with recombinant FLICd adjuvant), as well as C (non-vaccinated challenge control) and D (blank control).

Background And Aim: Reproductive disorders in swine herds pose significant challenges to pig breeding due to both infectious and non-infectious factors. In large-scale pig farming, coinfections are increasingly common, affecting sow health and herd productivity. This study aimed to determine occurrence and coinfection patterns of s and porcine circovirus type 3 in Vietnamese pig farms and to evaluate their association with reproductive disorders and clinical signs in affected herds.

Duck circovirus (DuCV) infected multiple breeds of ducks and was widespread in duck factories worldwide. Infected ducks exhibited feathering disorder, growth retardation and immunosuppression, which lead to secondary infection with other pathogens easily. But till now, there has been little research on the study of DuCV due to the absence of appropriate cultural measures.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) is highly prevalent in nature and serves as the primary pathogen responsible for porcine circovirus-associated disease (PCVD/PCVAD), posing a significant threat to pig production. Currently, vaccination alone could not provide the complete protection for PCV2 infection. The active ingredients of traditional Chinese medicine have shown a positive effect in combating viral infections.
