Isocitrate dehydrogenase wild-type glioblastoma (GBM) is characterised by a heterogeneous genetic landscape resulting from dynamic competition between tumour subclones to survive selective pressures. Improvements in metabolite identification and metabolome coverage have led to increased interest in clinically relevant applications of metabolomics. Here, we use liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry and gene expression microarray to profile integrated intratumour metabolic heterogeneity, as a direct functional readout of adaptive responses of subclones to the tumour microenvironment.

Background And Objectives: Antibody-negative autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is a form of encephalitis characterized by the absence of detectable autoimmune antibodies, despite immunological evidence. However, data on management of patients with antibody-negative AE in the intensive care unit (ICU) are limited. This study aimed to explore the characteristics and subtypes of antibody-negative AE, assess the effects of immunotherapy, and identify factors independently associated with poor functional outcomes in patients requiring intensive care.

Background: This study explored the ethical issues associated with community-based HIV testing among African, Caribbean, and Black (ACB) populations in Canada, focusing on their perceptions of consent, privacy, and the management of HIV-related data and bio-samples.

Methods: A qualitative community-based participatory research (CBPR) approach was employed to actively engage ACB community members in shaping the research process. The design included in-depth qualitative interviews with 33 ACB community members in Manitoba, Canada.

Contemporary latent disease models of psychopathology have shown limited clinical utility and the efficacy of conventional treatments have been disappointing. An alternative approach offers the network approach and a dynamic systems perspective to psychopathology and treatment change. To understand and modify dynamic systems, engineering and mathematics have been relying on principles of network control theory.

Revealing the Limitations of the Thermocapacitive Cycle.

ACS Nano

January 2025

School of Materials Science and Engineering, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou 510275, China.

While thermoelectric conversion by a thermocapacitive cycle has been considered a promising green technology for low-grade heat recovery, our study finds that its practical feasibility is overestimated. During thermal charging, the coexistence and dynamic competition between thermal-induced voltage rise and self-discharge lead to the limitations of the thermocapacitive cycle. Therefore, the operational conditions in the charge-heat-discharge steps seriously restrict the thermal charging performance.
